Is this something to worry about

Type of diabetes
Don't have diabetes
I actually joined here due to my sons metabolic disorder causing hypoglycaemic issues but this time it's me that's going a bit wonky and I don't want to worry unless it warrants it.

Last few months had odd disorientation spells I put down to anxiety attacks. Today I went very dizzy and had to come home from work . I had missed breakfast but had then eaten lunch but drank two bottles of lucozade and my arms and legs felt jittery I felt disorientated. Constant thirst and the obvious toilet visits from drinking so much. Diabetic friend said use sons monitor to check my levels. My sugars 2 hours after eating were 8.2 and then a further hour later 9.3. When testing before to practice with monitor when we got it for son it was always 6/7 max. When it finally calmed down 5 hours after eating i thought I would recheck 2 hours after dinner tonight to find it in the high 8's again. Not sure if my body's in shock from the sugar of lucozade or if the diabetes warnings my type 2 mum keeps harping on about are true I guess I want to know if it's worth mentioning to a doc or if these levels for a non diabetic would be ok

Be gentle lol

I think you should do more than mention it to a doctor. I think you should get an a1c test taken to make sure you don't have diabetes.

Those numbers could very well be the result of something else, but they're certainly pause for concern either way.

Long story short- see a doctor.

Those are higher numbers than I would like to see. I'm not familiary with lucozade - but it appears to be high carb, but not outrageously high. In additon, liquids are generally fast acting carbs so a more likely pattern would be a quick spike and then a decline to around 5.6 or below.

There are multiple sets of numbers running around - but a relatively common one is that non-diabetics generally return to around 6.7 or below within 2 hours after eating.

It wouldn't hurt to make an appointment with your doctor to see what's going on.

Lucozade is what many people use to treat hypos. It is widely considered to be very fast acting.

However, there is no correlation between the state of a substance (liquid or solid) and it's glycemic index.

Hi. Yes, do see the GP to get a blood test. I would avoid taking two bottles of Lucozade in future as it very high in glucose and even one bottle is more than needed to fix a hypo.
