Went to Melton Mowbray, our nearest Lidl, round trip over 30 miles. Loads of rolls, I got 22, will keep me going for a while. Hurray.

A round trip of 404 miles for me, so do you think you could buy up all the rolls left @carol43 and then position yourself centrally in the country and flog 'em to us for, say, 35p each??;) Good for bagging 22 though!
Edit: d'oh. A round trip is two ways...!

I was in my local lidl in East london for something else ( tins of wasabi flavour and chilli flavour roasted almonds - food of the gods!) and couldnt help noticing that they had a pretty full container of protein rolls in the bakery section

Considering setting up as an eBay supplier of slightly used Lidl rolls. :-)
As posted elsewhere my partner has talked to someone at Lidl head office who said that there was no plan to stop production.
A letter has been sent asking for written confirmation and I will update you all on progress.
Meanwhile, having added 20 rolls to around 10 already in the freezer I may be on the leader board of Lidl roll hoarders.

Are we going to start adding the size of our hoards into our sigs next? I’ve only got five...

I never have problems getting these rolls, on the odd occasion I want one. Is there a problem with supply?

Good ideas on the sigs/leader board, but I am a Failure. I've only got one left! I think a dawn raid on the two Lidls near me is required as it seems they are lurking in various other places. If not, I am saving the last one for a blow-out lashings of butter topped with crunchy peanut butter topped with crispy bacon sensation. Perhaps at Easter :)

Burgen bread sends my sugars rocketing - used to be ok but sadly no more

I am beginning to realise this myself. Half a slice is fine, but a whole slice is not. Sadly, half a slice is not enough. I'll be going back to the rolls when I can get some and keep the Burgen for an odd special treat.

Blimey, I can hardly be bothered to get to my Aldi's which is 3 miles up the road, I am in awe of the dedication of many. I do like the Aldi rolls but find that sourdough bread from the Coop is yum and has a similar effect to the Aldi rolls on my glucose levels (without insulin). I think it is something to do with the acidic process they use. Of course, everyone is different.

Which Aldi rolls are these? it is the Lidl high protein (very low carb) rolls that are in short supply/threatened with being discontinued. I'm afraid those of us that are Type 2 and controlling with just diet or diet + Metformin have no choice but to be dedicated! (also T1s that follow low carb or keto diets)

Hi bluetit, yes, the low carb ones. I am following a low (er) carb diet too, up to 50 carbs per day. The sourdough bread does have 18 carbs a slice so I know that's higher than most want to go but I do my testing before and after and it spikes me less than 2 points as does the lidl roll. 'Normal' bread on the other hand spikes me by 4 or more points so I no longer have that.

Just been to my nearest Lidl and there’s no sign of them, they’re not doing them any more. I might venture further afield to the one that said they hadn’t heard anything about them being discontinued on my way back from hospital on Friday.
