Job trial tomorrow... Nerves.

@Chloesnavy Be aware that as it is an apprenticeship, there will be an element of study involved, as appreticeships lead to a qualification. If I was really keen on getting the job I would tell of the suprise holiday, and see if they think a start date after the holiday would be best. Also, would ask if there was any reading or other preparation I could do. (Only do that if you are actually prepared to do that prep though).
The Disclosure and Barring Service checks, which replaced the CRB checks can take quite a while and we are nearly in November already. They may not be completed until after your holiday. Go in to the work trial with confidence, and be open and honest with your potential employer. Oh and relax, smile, the children in the nursery will warm to you.

Interesting to read someone's BG rises due to stress hormones.Mine do the opposite.
No reason to have a hypo though if you're only there for a few hours. As a one off I'd take less insulin and more carbs before the start then just sort my blood sugars back down when I'd finished, that way your not going to hypo during the short time you're there or have to take time out to test your sugars and get them up if you feel hypo.
Also as said point out early that you've a holiday and I'm sure they'll understand once you've explained.

Thinking of you today, @Chloesnavy - hope you enjoy it! Am sure you'll get on fine - just keep an eye on your sugars and try to relax!

As regards the holiday - wow, how lovely! The only 'advice' I can give is just be totally upfront about it - it's booked, you want to go (obv!), they need to know, and it's not your fault or theirs that it was booked without you knowing. So all you need to do is tell them. That's the situation, and it'll be fine.

That's great news! How did they react to your disclosure about the holiday? Have they given you any indication when you might hear? I always found this bit worse than the rest of any selection process.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.
 
When I had an enhanced CRB check done it took about 6 weeks to come back.
Very inconvenient for both me and the employer, since they were without someone to do the job until the CRB arrived.

It may be worth asking how long the CRB typically takes to come back. If they tell you a date after your hol, then you won't have anything to worry about.
 
The CRB is now a DBS. @Brunneria.
There is, as far as I am aware, no 'typical' timescale, as they are passed around various police forces in a random manner. Could take days, weeks or months, even if the same employers submits several, they could go to different admin depts to be checked. Causes mayhem in schools, nurseries and care homes, hospitals etc.

bit off topic .. but when I read you were going to work in a nursery .. I thought you were going to work in a garden centre or plant growing centre ... LOL .. I was wondering how or where the children came from ... eventually the penny dropped ....

Fingers crossed that you get the job and also have a brilliant holiday ...
