Cure the disease OMG. ....where's the returning business goneJust wish these people would educate themselves a bit better.
I think its a case of WE need to re educate them "walk in my shoes" sort of thing, my DN needs this anyway. I sometimes wonder if she actually understands the concept of LCHF or diabetes in general!. My recent GP understands at least, as I have been bleating on to him about it and he has got quite enthusiastic!Just wish these people would educate themselves a bit better.
Part of the reason is partly because they can't go off script. Even those that know it works can agree you are doing well but can't say you can! So to speak. Lots of my friends are senior nurses. They can see I am losing weight and know what I am doing but still tell me I shouldn't be doing it. The other thing is they still say it is progressive. Of course it is when they aren't giving people the right information. And then we have Big Pharma.....Don't th ink the nurse at my surgery will ever understand. She just looks like a stubborn old cow
I sometimes just feel like stuffing a potato in her mouth. Ha Ha.
It seems more likely he’ll increase both cholesterol and hba1c if he follows that advice. Doing the opposite and having less of them and more protein and healthy naturally occurring fats to gain a bit of weight would solve both issues. Get your husband to ask for the actual numbers rather than an opinion on what they are. Slightly high might mean 1 mmol or 20 depending on the drMy husband has been told he has slightly high cholesterol and is pre-diabetes. (I actually don’t believe that). The doc told him to eat plenty of bread and potatoes!!!!! His weight is below normal so the doc maybe wants him to put some weight on.
Some manage to go off script and give sensible advice. A few in here have drs and nurses that advise lower carb and even this forum. Many of these well educated hcp’s are working from the inside to update their colleagues, rather than just toeing the party linePart of the reason is partly because they can't go off script. He can read the numbers on line. Cholesterol is 5..6, HBa1C is 43. We are not worried about cholesterol in the slightest. The test was taken in the heat of summer when he may have been dehydrated. I’m not sure whether that will have made a difference, but I know what he eats, and it’s pretty balanced. He knows to take the advice with a large pinch of salt. He’s agreed to have another test in 6 months. It seems more likely he’ll increase both cholesterol and hba1c if he follows that advice.
