Hi I got told I had type 2 in February , I’m on metaformin 4 tablets a day and have an injection once a week, well I was asked to do a kidney function test at home I done this but it said abnormal , I’ve been asked by the gp to do another test in a months time, but they wouldn’t say what the abnormalities were, I’m confused as I’ve lost weight like I was advised my sugar levels have gone down from 20+ to between 5-8 , I don’t know if anyone has had anything like it and what it actually means

What kind of at home kidney function test was it?
Most that I've ever come across were blood or urine tests that had to be sent away to a lab.

An albumin test maybe, my doc also gave me a eGFR test. I also have high blood pressure which is hard on the kidneys. On medication for BP

It was sent by my gp it’s called minuteful kidney test , my diabetic nurse had never heard of it done at home either

The secret to getting your kidney and liver function tests as near normal as possible is to drink a lot of water, say about a litre and a half, this will help.
I have had this abnormal readings a few times until I started drinking water.
All fine now!
I have just remembered when I had about six or seven blood panel tests in a few months because they couldn't get a reading that was normal then abnormal. The doctors and specialists were looking for the reason why my health was getting worse.
This was about 2008. The specialist recommended statins and told me to eat more healthy, because I had a fatty liver and the likelihood of T2. I think that I told him then that I wouldn't be taking the statins, because having tried them once, that was enough.
It was funny when I think back how the specialist missed that I was consistently recording normal blood levels on a fasting blood tests.
I was misdiagnosed with T2 the next year.
And I kept putting weight on and my health deteriorated also though it's difficult to remember, I was still eating porridge and baked spuds, beans, et al.
Drink plenty of water and no food unless instructed to.

Keep safe
