How often do you change your lancet needles?

I guess I’m pretty lazy, but if you are out and about changing needles for a quick BS check is a faff, so sometime I can re-use it a good few times.

So how many times do you re-use yours - I mean it’s only used by you, and you keep it clean in your pocket - don’t you.......

I think from previous posts, it's until it hurts, then swap it out.

Which reminds me, I need to change mine.

I use a fastclix barrel so no hassle at all involved.

That said, til i remember or it hurts is also my answer too.

Obviously the “correct” and official answer should be every test.

2 or 3 times a year when I remember..

When I was first diagnosed, I was advised to change my lancet every other time I used it.
Over the years, I have changed it less and less. Now it is when I remember so it could be every few days or it could be one a week. It is definitely before and after my partner decides to do a test.
I too have FastClix - it is little effort to change if I have any spikes left in the cartridge but I would need to carry spare cartridges around with me.

I know some people with diabetes change their lancet every 29th February

Well I don't bother with a device for lancing so I use a bare lancet. I usually change whenever it hurts or whenever I think that maybe my lancet has been contaminated by my previous blood tests. Not even sure of the latter is a thing but if I'm sceptical about the result I change my lancet. When my meter dies (every couple of years) the new one comes with a lot of free lancets so am not sure when I last bought new ones....

I was following the "change it when it hurts" route but realised that it was ages since I changed it.
So I changed it, and the new one hurts more.
Go figure!

Love the Fastclix too.
First time I used it though I thought the upper dial was puncture depth & clicked it straight onto 6.
Facepalm.

Rarely... must have been months now, but I am only testing once a day now

Going to be the odd one out but I change it every time, other than in very rare occasions when I can't or forget. I find it hurts when I reuse a lancet or needle so am in the habit of changing both every single time!

I change FastClix drums (6 lancets) every 6 days. Roughly 1 lancet per 4 tests.
