Hi,
I am very newly diagnosed and want to get a meter. Sorry for the stupid question but I wondered if any lancets would work with the above meter, I assumed so as it is just to get the blood? They are cheaper on amazon for the lancets so was hoping to get a universal set of 100.
many thanks for the advice

If you've been diagnosed, you should be able to order 1 for free and give your Dr the prescription form for strips and lancets

As I said in previus thread, there are no generic lancets.

Each lancing device has to havc the lancets designed for it.

Sadly most won't do that for a T2D in UK .

Most on here self fund.

Lancets as said are not generic, and are specific to each manufacturer, and model most likely.

Agreed, but you can use any lancing device to get the blood for a meter and if you're like me and not squeamish you can use a bare lancet of any type and just stab your finger. (That's nearly 40 years of blood testing for you. :)).

Agree.

Very deliverance,
Burt Reynolds would be proud..;):)

Where there's a will, there's a way :D

Yeah I found that one out for myself the other day when, between taking the plastic protector off the lancet and placing it in the stabber tool I managed to prick my finger with it... didn't hurt and the right amount of blood came out.

So drawing pins at the ready if I run out? ;)

As others have said the lancets are made to go with specific lancing devices. There is at least one brand (pip) that doesn't use a device - the spring is built into each lancet. But the lancets/lancing devices are totally independent from the meter and testing strips.

But also don’t worry - lancets need not be a big cost. I still have most of the box of 200 I bought shortly after diagnosis, more than 4 years ago. I just don’t change them very often!

This might be of some use to folks... I've just checked and the GlucoNavii lancets, although not identical appear to be completely cross-compatible with the ones provided by Sinocare, for the Safe AQ at least.

Was going to post the same info but @jjne beat me to it. Stabber looks the same. Used to use the Sinocare Safe Accu, its a cheap device and test strips are also very reasonable. When you purchase test strips they also come with lancets. I have some spare boxes at home but sadly no way of getting them to you.
