Just had my first 3 month blood test results back for my T2D after being put on Dapaglifoxin. Have been restricting my diet too and knocked off all the ‘naughty’ treats/foods Etc. Was a little disappointed with the results though, my Hb1ac has come down from 79 to 51, which is going in the right direction but according to my Libre freestyle 2 that was predicting a result of 41. Even after adding on the discrepancy of 12 % it’s still off. Anyone else had this happen to them?

That kind of drop in 3 months is amazing! Don’t be so hard on yourself. It’s not a sprint we’re in this for the long haul, keep on doing what you are doing and it in all likelihood it could come down even further at your next check. I can’t help with the CGM question as I don’t use one but I’m sure someone else will be able to answer the question for you

That's a really good result. I always try to caution people against "predicting" the A1c from Libre results or from trying to "average" fingerprick readings. They all measure different things in different ways. This means that you're now disappointed with really good progress because it's not what the Libre said it was going to be.

Still - well done!

I use a CGM and to be honest I’ve never taken too much store by the predicted Ac1 figures these things generate. Mine have always predicted a lower Ac1 than in reality, so now I don’t expect it to be accurate on that particular feature. They can also be off when your blood sugars go out of the ‘normal’ range. So low readings and high readings need to be checked with a finger prick rest.

And on your drop from 79 to 51 that’s a great result. Well done.

Thanks so much for the positive feedback, I’m feeling much more positive now and since posting I recieved a text from the practice nurse who said the results were good and she will arrange a retest in 6 months. So will endeavour to keep up the good work and not give in to temptation especially with Christmas not too far away now.

That’s a brilliant HbA1c reduction, you deserve a pat on the back! My Libre always predicts lower than my lab result for HbA1c. I just watch it for trends up or down, not the actual figure.

Just to support what's already been said - these are difficult complicated things to measure, but you can't argue with a trend in the right direction - well done!!

Congratulations, well done. This is excellent progress.
Please note that your HbA1c measure an average of glycated blood cell over the last 3 months, so you cannot take a Libre measurement, which measure the current interstitial fluid glucose level and expect the same result. They are measuring completely different things: If you continue with your new regime, your next HbA1c test in three months will very likely be be lower than 51.
