Just picked up latest HbA1c results from the surgery and.......
its 27 (4.6%) below low reference limit according to the records..

Thanks to all you guys for your support.. so I am 33kg lighter and more healthy

I only have Serum Cholesterol level of 5.6 mmol/L
HDL 1.4 mmol/L
Serum /HDL ration of 4
no mention of trigs or LDL so I'm guessing they weren't measured? Any info on that one?

Last one was 5.4 and before that 5.2 so not exactly moving much and no doctor I don't want statins thanks...

Nice one, Bulkbiker, and very well deserved :) You don't make any big song & dance about things, but just quietly get on with it. So pleased for you.

You're doing pretty well yourself.. metformin I tried but it didn't agree with me at all so just do VLCHF and some intermittent fasting. Snack on pork scratchings..(I have tried most brands) cheese and cold meats. Seems to work pretty well.

Thanks, I just need to get confident and kick the Metformin. I have been a little apprehensive to go all out on LCHF which I am following about 75%, with a carb intake of circa 100 g. As my initial diagnosis was off the scale I have taken a medium pace, and have been grateful that my body is responding. At my next A1C in December I will make a decision, on some days I do go up to 17:00 without Metformin at circa 5.1 bg and then bottle it - psychology. Anyway again thanks, it is amazing how successes such as yours spur the rest of us on.

I love pork scratchings, and since going lower carb I always carry Babybel cheeses, nuts, hard boiled eggs around with me, and until recently scratchings were my nirvana of snack products.

My love affair with pork scratchings has no future thanks to third party involvement in the relationship - my dentist is now on the scene. Sigh.

I could always grind them into powder though, and use it as a sprinkle? Much lower risk of any more hairline cracks in my teeth!

Own fault - I did read the warning on the packet.......! :banghead:

Fab HbA1c result, @bulkbiker - have got my annual review tomorrow so fingers crossed.....

:)

Good luck with your review.. and as for the scratchings I find the Real Pork Crackling ones have hardly any really hard bits. black pack in sainsburys..and they taste good too.
