The docs thinking drugs cure all
anyone else have this problem at all. I want to go but nowt is happening.

I've been on the diet 2 months with the odd treat thrown in.

@Dollylolly

You could also try psyllium husk capsules. A couple an hour before meals with plenty of water does the trick. I find taking before dinner is best.

I am having the same problems. Only been on the diet for 4 weeks with amazing results. ( weight loss, reduced BG)However, I am only going to the toilet every five or six days!!!! Have increased the amount of water I drink but that hasn't achieved any results. As I am not getting stomach pains etc, I thought it was that maybe I wasn't eating enough.

I also recommend psyllium husk but I prefer the loose powder rather than the capsules. One tablespoon of PH stirred in to a glass of water (flavoured if you prefer) - drink quickly then immediately drink a a second glass of plain water. It's gentle and effective.

How much veg are you eating?
LCHF doesn't need to be a low fibre diet. So long as you don't eat high carb veg, you can eat masses of veg. Say, 3/4 of the plate. I certainly eat more fruit and veg than I did before LCHF (if you count courgettes, aubergine, tomatoes, peppers and so on as fruit :) )

The only time I ever have constipation is when I go too high protein, and not enough veg, and then I use psyllium husks as a quick fix and then go back to my usual veg portions.

I add a tablespoon of ground flax seed into something liquid (for example my porridge, soup or sauce), every day.

Green leaf vegetables might help: I have Kale, cabbage, bak choi as quite a big component in my LCHF, mainly coz they're cheap and fill me up, but they also seem excellent for the stomach. If you don't like those, then broccoli should be good.
Before I was diagnosed and went LCHF, I never used to eat greens- I was plagued by stomach upsets and any green vegetable made them worse. Once I cut carbs and built up to eating greens (didn't take long) I never had trouble with them again.

Upping my low carb vegetables and nuts sorted this problem.

When I go away I have to take physillium husk capsules as it is hard to eat the same amount of veg, hotels with buffets are OK!

I just make sure that I have enough fibre from vegetables, fruit, and nuts, and also plenty of fluid and fats, which keeps me regular.

But if you are eating less - which can happen on an LCHF diet, or fasting occasionally, then you may not need to go so often, as you'll have less waste to eliminate.

PS I can't handle psyllium husks - when I tried them when I first started low carbing they made me feel as though I'd got appendicitis, but I found anyway my system actually just neededa week or two to get used to my slightly different way of eating, and then it was back to its normal routine.

Magnesium supplement daily will help with this. Magnesium citrate is exceptionally good for encouraging regular bathroom trips.

Thanks all. I'm thinking I just don't need to go as much now.

TMI I went and then some
