Libre Sense Accuracy

My son has given me his Abbot LS Sports Version to try. Fascinating to watch the changing glucose levels throughout the day and night. But I’m not sure about it’s accuracy. For example at midday it showed 60 mg/dl ie about 4 mmol whereas my trusty old Freestyle meter read 5.4 mmol. Any thoughts, I’d really like to thing the LS is correct but…….?IMG_1659279396.713990.jpg

I recommend you read the many posts about the limitations of the Libre (and most CGMs).
It is easy to find this using the Search function at the top of each page. These are repeated so many times.

Hi @Bazzakins and welcome to the forums.

While @In Response is right and there are loads of useful threads about this is the forums, that doesn't make your question any less valid and I thought I would give you a personalised reply.

There are a number of reasons why cgms/flash readers can misread. Off the top of my head
1) bedding in time. Sometimes they can be inaccurate for the first 24 hours because your body is reacting to the filament.
2) errors due to lag between interstitial readings and blood glucose. I believe the libre has an algorithm to try to overcome this but it means it can be inaccurate when your bg is changing fast.
3) compression lows at night if you lie on the sensor
4) bad sensor. If your readings are level and continue to be significantly out, you can ring Abbott for a replacement sensor.

And thanks @Yaya10_10 for the very useful link.

5) sensors are calibrated to be most accurate between about 4.0 and 9.0 mmol/l. If you get a reading outside this range, it is recommended to check with a finger prick.
