Type 2 Libre V VerioIQ results

Ok some advice please. I bought and have inserted an Abbott starter sensor kit for monitoring. I placed the sensor on my arm as per the instructions last night. On my husband's insistent I have also been testing with my One touch VersoIQ. There is a difference of 3 mmol in readings taken at same time. As an example I woke in the middle so just because the monitor was beside I did a quick reading from the sensor. 3. Something result! However no symptoms which I start to get whenever I go lower than 5 to4.5 ish. Went to check using finger pricking monitor and I got a 7.6 result.
So why the difference? And which should I go by given I still have to finger prick before driving?
 
When you insert it, the needle causes some minor trauma which the body then tries to fix and in the course of doing so gobbles up glucose in the area being measured so gives a low reading which is correct for that area even though glucose is higher elsewhere. That's just biology and can't be sorted. However , stick with it as it usually settles after a day. A lot of us deliberately insert then don't activate for 24 hours to let the micro-trauma settle down. That said, some sensors can be plain quirky but overall, once you get used to the peculiarities of it, the benefits are huge. Also, don't expect the figures between libre and meter to match exactly, libre measures glucose in interstitial fluid, meter reads glucise in blood, they're rarely the same, it's more being able to see the direction of travel which is the main benefit.
 
They rarely settle for first 48 hours with me.
I always put another sensor in now 2-3 days. Efore activating it.
My consultNt also said that for some people their blood readings will always show higher or lower than the libres...libre normally lower. Just use it as a guide of patterns..... and if showing dropping.. test.
 
I've been looking at these; let us know how you get on and if they're worth the investment as they are pretty expensive
 
Also, glucose in interstitial fluid lags about ten to fifteen minutes behind glucose in blood because it takes time for the glucise to be distributed around the body in the blood and then seep out into the fluid, so it's not fair to compare test and scan done at the same time: test first then scan 15 minutes later.

Yeah, I've found that too, mine's are generally running about 1 below meter, although obviously closer in the morning. Easy enough to mentally calibrate in my head, just as Dexcom and Medtronic calibrate on the machine. Is annoying though when I take a printout of my AGP graph along to a checkup and then have to patiently explain that a lot of those dips in the 10th percentile weren't actually hypos - have had to start tsking photos if libre and meter to prove it!

I had the benefit of running two overlapping libres for a few days. Itt took fully four days before the new one was giving similar readings to the mature one and the fingerprick tests . Previous ones have tended to be high or low for the first few days. So this time round I put the new one on my arm 4 days ago. Once activated it has given me readings that are very close to the finger pricks and exactly what I am expecting based on my activities and food. I guess for each individual the actual time it takes to recover from the trauma of the insertion is different. I will decide how long in advance to put the next one on when I have a better sense of whether it is going to fall off from the extended wear!
 
Thanks everyone for your replies. New to this as mentioned above and I can definitely see there will be benefits of seeing a trend. I should have come here and read up actual users info first. I learnt alot of fab tips in a very short time from your experiences. Cheers

I too recently found my blood has changed quite dramatically thoughto the libre. The libre never "catching up" 10-15min later.

I took photos and I also was sending over detailed data to hosp.

For me its only just changed to being a constant 2 different. However, I have significant other factors.... I can only use one arm for libre.. I have used that arm consisfsntly since July...
I think it is jyst reacting to over use!! I cannot use my other arm though so just accelt that it is me....and when I no longer worry as my Consultant also knows some people consistently run lower..
