Lidl High Protein Low Carb Rolls

Spike of +3.5 after two hours :(:(:(
So not for me, it seems.

@GeoffersTaylor try another one.

You may find the spike is lower next time, because there will be less of the frenzied anticipation and edge-of-seat angst.
Eating half one might work, too. And eating them with lots of butter and/or protein, like bacon or cheese. That'll slow the spike.

I cut them in half before freezing, then pull one half out at a time, because my bg goes above +2.0 with a whole one. But then, there is a lot of soya flour in them, and not everyone does well with soya.

I did have it with butter, some bangers (which I know are OK for me) and melted cheese, so whatever benefit that brings is factored into my result. I've still got a couple so I may as well have another go but I'm not optimistic.

@britishpub - not bad at all, sir. A bit chewier than ideal but pretty good, on the whole.

Well I think I am one of the few who think they are horrible I don't like the taste and I would quote Britishpub and say "carpet tile" they are so chewy even when toasted I was always made to eat my crusts when I was a child and I hated them and it put me off bread so I have never been much of a bread eater and when I did it was mostly toast and off came the crusts so bread is not something I miss. My husband does not mind the Lidl rolls he was always quite a big bread eater before T2 so they are better than no bread at all for him

Actually I was planning to have a 1/2 with loads of Fatty toppings for brekkie this morning, but they weren't in the freezer so HID must have binned them. I had a slice of German Rye instead, and that went pear shaped, so I'm giving up on any bread for a while.

I have found that by continually throwing one slice of 50/50 bread at my system it now tolerates it quite well after big spikes at first....8.6 for one slice then 7.8...then 7.2.....6.8.....now 6.2 and dropping each time I have one (which is usually smothered in butter as a treat for brekkie to try and put a little weight back on).

I only eat half a one at a time and I bolus for the 5 carbs on normal ratios, no problemo. If you want a home made low carb option, google swedish buns. You will need a few odd ingredients but other than the Lidl rolls they are about the most palatable I have found. I think there is also something called Banting bread that you can find the ingredients for online? Join Pinterest and google for low carb options, gazillions of them for every meal of the day.

I'm wheat intolerant, but i can have a whole one of these rolls, with no ill effects except for a slightly hiked bg.

Half a roll barely registers.

Marvellous result! (Although i try not to push things, and only have one rarely)

I had to cut mine down a little as the soya affected oestrogen dominance and was causing raging hot sweats but have now corrected that by using progesterone cream ....so far so good....sweats have gone and a roll today (first one in a few weeks) hasn't had any bad effect so far...fingers crossed
