Just asking if anyone else is on it? I started on it and it is making me ill, pains in tummy, just generally feel rubbish. I think it works by over-stimulating what is left working of your pancreas, Bloods have been a good 7 though so it must be doing something. It seems a fairly new med, 2011.

I was on Sitagliptin which sounds as though it's from the same family and I had no issues however I have read that it can cause problems with the pancreas so it may be worth checking with your GP or chemist if this is the problem.

Yeah, I thought maybe it was because I had just started taking it, the side effects might go away like they did with Metformin, but yeah, Pain is weird, feels like a burning. I am back at work this week too, I may have to get an emergency appointment or avoid them until I am off.

I too am on sitagliptin, have no side effects.
Apparently only 1% of test subjects had gastro problems.
The only thing is if you are taking metformin with it as this is well known to upset people.
Have a word with your GP. To change to another gliptin if it's not something else like metformin.
The gliptin seems to be working on getting your bloods down!

Hi. Yes, Linagliptin is one of the gliptin family. It only rarely causes problems but when it does they must be taken seriously; Google the web and read the leaflet. If you believe it is the Linagliptin I would suggest you see the GP and discuss coming off it. It works by extending the period the pancreas produce insulin by suppressing an enzyme that normally switches off the insulin after a meal

Hi I have just been put on Linagliptin as well as Gliclazide and so far have not noticed any problems. I was on victoza and metformin and they both caused different types of stomach problems but so far my stomach feels like its gone back to normal as had no cramps for ages.
