Liposuction for type 1 diabetic lipohypertrophy

Hi everyone

I have been type 1 diabetic for about 14 years now, with good control, particularly after a DAFNE course a few years ago. My time in target is usually around 70% and hba1c of 6.5. I go to the gym 5/6 times a week (a mix of weights and running) but also go out drinking a couple of nights a week.

I used to inject a lot in my stomach and not change needles often, which led to some lipohypertrophy (pics attached). I've improved on this, change needles after injecting and not injected in the affected area for about 4 years now. It decreased slightly when I stopped injecting but has seemed to plateau - it's quite a depressing shape that no amount of exercise seems to shift.

I'm looking into liposuction on the affected area to flatten it and remove the fatty deposit. Has anyone explored this and does anyone have reccomendations or advice?

Thanks in advance

Tbf, I don't think you've to much to worry about looking at those pics.
You wait till 40years of injecting. I'm not posting mine though!
I tried researching if lipsuction could be used to treat lipohypertrophy, but found nothing of any note.

Cold weather, angry people, queues,
I really don't think you have anything to worry about , mine is a bit worse than yours and a bit lop sided it was caused many years ago when we used very large needles, so I did ask my consultant at my last review about liposuction only to be told it was not possible , I don't know if he meant with the NHS or just not possible !

if you manage to do something with your lipohypertrophy, tell me, I have almost the same situation, I try not to give injections in the stomach, but the insulin bumps do not go away
