Social mixing most sport, Soaps!
For almost five weeks now I have controlled what, and when I eat ( which I love) and have done intermittent fasts of between 16 and 21 hours more or less daily. My carbs are about 20 to 30grms at a guess (no idea really!)
Today I bought a low carb seeded loaf for the first time (9.9grams of carbs per slice) and made myself a salad sandwich, using Mayo as I've no butter in, mixed salad leaves, cucumber and sliced tomato. Two slices of bread to sandwich it.
Because I was a little nervous of the rise I tested before (5.5) and after one hour and my bgl was 7.5 ... highest it's been in 5 weeks.
I again tested at the usual two hour slot and it was 5.8. I am delighted! It looks as if I may be able to have the occasional sandwich!

My personal thoughts are that there is alsorts that you could have occasionally, so long as you don't overdo it, or allow it to be come more habit than occasional treat..

in the long term so long as you are keeping an eye on you BG, and its not having a negative impact on your HBA1C then the occasional treat should be fine..

when i though i was T2 i would pre plan a treat that i was going to have... and i could only have it so long as i was good for the week/month or whatever period i had chosen in the lead up to that teat..

Good luck.. and enjoy :-)

Getting away with bread makes diet choices so much easier cause of all the low carb items you can pack between 2 slices.
You've had a result there.

This is one reason why testing is so useful. Testing taught me that I can manage potatoes as long as I portion control them. 3 small new spuds, 2 pieces of roasties, or around 7 or 8 home made deep fried chips (in lard). That was way back in 2014, and still holds true today. It certainly made life a lot easier for me. The secret is portion control.

That sounds a good idea searley! I've never been a big bread eater, but do like the occasional salad sandwich, or a slice of cheese on toast. I got some of those Benecol cholesterol lowering drinks in at the same time, and used to love them. However they are now proving to be far too sweet! My daughter likes them so they won't be wasted :)

Yes these low carb diets are ultimately very beneficial to control BG's for which one should definately keep monitoring it (using a CGM like Blucon which easily goes with FSL )and your weight...but doesnt it become monotonous following same diet for long

Never, because there are hundreds of recipes on keto and low carb sites. And we can eat foods that we were previously told were bad for us - one of my treats is a bowl of steamed green veg smothered in melted cheese (a few carbs but well within my goal).
Use spices and herbs to vary chicken or fish meals, and eat a variety of low carb veg and salad items. Try spaghetti Bolognese without the pasta or with courgetti, chilli with cauliflower rice, curry ditto.
One of my favourite puds when I get fed up with greek yogurt and fresh raspberries is a rhubarb crumble made with ground almonds instead of flour, sometimes with a few blueberries or raspberries, or gooseberry crumble when in season - served with double cream or real egg custard. If I have a protein and green veg/salad first this is still a low carb meal.
Breakfast is my low carb 'porridge' mix or bacon and mushrooms or low carb bread toasted with plenty of butter (but people add eggs, avocado, steak, chops - whatever protein they like).
