Hi, I was diagnosed in March and have had pretty good BG since then. My HbA1C after being diabetic for three months was 7.2, which he said was fine. However, I am having a lot of trouble recently. My blood sugars are all over the place. I can go to bed at 6.7 and wake up at 13.8, even if I have had no food. So naturally I up my basal by a tiny bit, and this time I go to bed at 7.2, again no food, and wake up at 2.4 at 3 in the morning. I purchased a freestyle Libre recently, only one sensor, and it seems to show that my sugar always goes low in the night, but it always steadily rises back up for no reason. What can I do?

One possibility is the 13.8 is a rebound following a hypo... maybe it's worth reducing your basal and testing every couple of hours through the night?

From my experience mostly you get hypo during sleep and then your liver counter it by releasing glucose and cause the high morning bg. Try reduce basal or eat some carb before bed.

Sounds like you're on too much Tresiba to me. Ditto what others have said - test your basals and make a change if needed. If you're unsure about how to do it or feel uncomfortable doing it yourself get in touch with your GP/Diabetes Specialist Nurse.

The first few months are always going to be a bit of trial and error as your body 'settles in' to diabetes. Don't worry - you'll get it sorted and life will be sweet (well, you know what I mean!)

@DobbieTheElf have you done any basal rate testing? Here's a guide on how to do it - https://mysugr.com/basal-rate-testing/

When your libre has shown you going low overnight have you done anything to address that? Have you done any finger prick testing to confirm the lows the libre shows?

I have a few times been woken up by the low sugar, and check my libre, it says it is low, then i check my blood with my actual meter and it also says it is low

The thing is with this, sometimes I can go to bed at say 6.5 and when when I check my libre it shows that I have stayed the exact same all night. So I am pretty sure my basal is right. Also, with school, I don't really think I could do basal testing at school because the lack of food would make me unable to concentrate. Also as I have to get up early, I cannot control when the last meal is as I have to have breakfast but then I can't do the morning test.

You could basal test at the weekend. Also don’t rule out dawn phenomenon. If your Libre shows a steady night then a steep rise first thing. Very common.
