Hi
Am looking for ideas for some low carb foods but ones that can stay in a car etc without refrigeration and for long periods so long life things.

Thanks

I think Pork scratchings, but you would have to look at the sell by/use by date.

Small portions of nuts - you can weigh them out and wrap them in cling film, tins of tuna - may be best eaten outside the car lol small bars of high coco chocolate- don't eat all at once but you can get individual bars. 9bars - 1/2 of one is about 4 - 5g carb and very filling. There is some great recipes for low carb granola bars @Rachox has a lovely one.

Sorry, I don’t have a recipe for granola bars, just low carb granola. If I want a low carb snack bar I have PHD Smart bars or Carb Killa bars.

Tuna topper packets, tins of fish, nuts, high cocoa choc, packet of low carb cuppa soup or similar (carry a flask of hot water or get a cup of hot water from a drinks venue) , beef jerky or biltong, bag of home made non grain granola (ditchthecarbs.com website has a few) to eaten with a spoon or tipped into Greek yogurt/cream to make it more substantial.

Not strictly what you ask but still good for emergencies always carry a knife fork and spoon for on the run purchases. I sometimes resort to tubs of egg mayo on their own. (I know I know , the oils, but it is occasionally and the least of the sins available sometimes), blocks of cheese grabbed from almost anywhere, some items above need a fork if bought on the run too.

Never heard of low carb cuppa soup? I can make my own. But looking for things on the hop.

What are chocca chocs?

I can do the rest like jerky.
Thanks

I meant finding soup packets that have low carbs, to be fair I haven’t tried. Maybe I’d get a nasty shock if I did. I was just thinking it waits til you need it unlike fresh soup.

Chocca chocs? High cocoa chocolate bars. Like over 80% ideally.

I looked at cuppa soup yesterday and they are high. Think it’s was 15+ or even more. Put them straight down again

one of my emergency rations I keep in the car boot is a jar of olives ( current jar came from Asda - 59p for 310g ) and I usually have high % dark chocolate in my bag.

You will find (look on the back label) that jerky usually has quite a bit of sugar.. if you can find biltong it will be better.
Sainsbury’s do biltong. So do Lidl. Jerky is a high % sugar but I only eat small amounts. I do go for biltong when I have the choice though. The ones I have here at the moment are 4.8 carbs for the whole 30g bag of jerky and 1.2 for the biltong.

Tins of corned beef, plus a spoon or fork to eat it with.

We can eat corned beef? I love corned beef.

I thought that was a no no. Don’t know why but hadn’t even thought it could be a yes.

We have been using it as part of our emergency food supplies for when the tropical cyclone, bushfire, flooding seasons are presenting a hazard to us, and we have to do a runner or stay where we are.

Corned beef is fine. I love corned beef too, as I find it very moreish.

That'd keep in a decent cool bag.

Mmmmm although the fact I’m thinking about it with brown sauce is probably not so good

I’ll have to find a substitute or just have it plain

I picked up one of these an age ago. It's fine, I guess. The BBQ sauce is a bit more of a Daddies Fruity than an HP Brown.

I was referring to Cana's emergency food box.
Cana did say a long period of time, with no refrigeration.

Which is the same as what I stated what happens with ours, and it a plurry sight hotter here than the UK is. :D
