Hi All you do it yourself bakers out there,
Can you advise me if we can use Yeast in nut flour bread & if not why.
I notice you all use baking powder/bicarb (& eggs but I can use egg as allergic) but not Yeast.

I need a bit of educating here.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Squeekyboy
Would you just clarify, please? Are you saying you can or can't eat eggs???
I think I'm just being a bit 'dense' this evening ;)

Hi @Squeekyboy

I think that you need starch in your mix before you can use yeast , yeast digests sugar/starch to produce carbon dioxide, which is what makes the dough rise. (and why you have to leave bread to prove, to allow time for the yeast to 'work').

The alternative is the chemical reaction from baking powder which also produces carbon dioxide. It doesn't need starch or require the rising time.

@geefull Hi there & thanks for the educating bit. Have you made any breads yourself or could you recommend a recipe? Sqeekyboy Steve
