Anyone else suffered this whilst having T2 or even because of low carb? Peope on Reddit talkign about colder hands and feet when on low carb diet, I feel the same.

I tend to be more sensitive to cold on low carb.

I put this down to my metabolic rate slowing down to compensate for the lower level of food intake which has come from eating LCHF - effectively one meal per day most days.

Exercise brings my temperature up - it is just resting metabolism which seems to have slowed.

Correct, excercising is ok, sleeping, idle or sitting behind a desk brings it on, I think fast weight loss and low carbs brings this on hopefully it will fix itself

I find the opposite - that after entering the weight maintenance phase (increasing the amount of animal fats to stop my weight dropping further) My body tends to be warmer than it previously was. This winter for the first time ever I never needed my heaviest winter coat or even the winter quilt.

I recently read that surveys in both USA and UK show that 'normal' core body temperature has dropped by almost 1/2 degree C over the last few decades, which closely follows the reduction in average consumption of saturated fat. But this isn't proven to be causation (so far).

When I was finally treated for a failed thyroid the first thing I noticed was the warmth in my hands and feet - it might be worth mentioning to your GP and asking for a thyroid check as long as that will not be considered too uppity in today's unfortunate circumstances.

My feet sometimes feel like blocks of ice and my hands always seem cold unless I'm washing up the dishes.
My feet used to be so warm I couldn't stand wearing socks.
I've only experienced this since going low carb.
My thyroid check was normal.

Did you just go Low Carb? Or did you reduce you calorie intake as well?
I always advise Low Carb without Calorie reduction. I eat lots of cheese and fatty cuts of meat and fish.
I call it weight loss without starvation. Calorie reduction makes your body economise on energy output including: to keep you warm, to keep you alert, to keep you thinking clearly, to fight off disease etc.

I started low carb about 6 months ago but did not reduce my calorie intake at all. If anything I am probably eating more including things that I used to ration such as bacon and cheese.
Started to low carb to help keep my blood glucose lower and the bonus is that I've lost weight and had to buy a new wardrobe in a smaller size twice.

I find it hard to have the same calories as before since going low carb. Junk like burgers fries chocolate crisps cakes are gone completely. Maybe that's why my hands feel colder and weaker.

I definitely notice the cold a lot more since the diet change, although I'm not sure how much of it is due to lower fat levels.

I feel a lot colder now since change of diet and weight loss. I always felt overly warm before now I really feel the cold. I definitely think it is due to less fat on the bones, my fella is the same. We are both quite boney now lol

Me too. I suspect I am a lizard. I'm always cold first thing, then warm up during my morning walk.

Hi, roughly how many calories do you eat in that one meal? And does that help you lose weight? Are you sedentary or active? Thanks.

I have never bothered calorie counting.
Apart from anything else it is an unreliable measure of how much your body actually gets to use.
All calories are not the same.

I am fairly active; going through a lower activity patch at the moment as I'm missing my 20-30 mile bike ride once a week.
I walk around 3 miles nearly every day.

My weight is reasonably stable and well within normal.
If I cut back on the meals and go more or less keto then I can take weight off, slowly.
I am 6'0" tall and the lowest weight I have managed is 11 stone 7 lbs which was my steady weight in mid to late teens.
Haven't checked recently but I should be at or below 12 stone.
