Where can I get a book/brochure on a low carb diet and advice on what foods to avoid/cut down. I am newly diagnosed.

thanks for the referral but I am concerned about taking full fat milk and butter etc. as I am taking Statins to reduce cholesterol

The decision to eat or not eat fats is entirely yours, but can you tell me why you think dairy fats will harm you?

By the way, milk is not a good idea other than the usual small amounts in tea or coffee.

it does go against everything youve been taught but it works. you have to accept this fact or try the ultra low calorie diet. dont follow any diet you dont believe in it wont work as well.

It was all made up, you know - all the 'information' about low fat being the equivalent of the Holy Grail - and when tested, it fails.
Eating the fat on meat, having cream in coffee - lowered cholesterol. I remember my trigs were at 2 after 3 months of low carb, and 1.5 at 6 months - no medication.
Oh - and the diabetes had rolled over and played dead by then as well.

My cholesterol went down once I followed lchf, so no statins for me. (I hated them, made my joints ache so bad!) Recently there's been a load of articles about how the fat-witch hunt is based on one single flawed study... It's been countered over and over again through recent years, but it's so ingrained it's hard to let go of old ideas. Work on your bloodsugar and you'll see... It will affect your cholesterol too.
