Low carbWeekend and spikes in BG

I have had a couple of low carb days - well not quite.
Saturday - only 24 g until dinner time. I measured my BG and it was 3.7 before dinner - I had Steak and mixed salad (15.5g carbs) and my BG was 4.6 90 minutes after and 5.9 after 120 mins. I am taking it as good that my BG was still below 6 but perplexed by the over 2 jump in my BG.
Similar situation today (Sunday). 11.5g carbs up until Dinner. Measured my BG 3.9. Had dinner - Omelette with various things - and a small quantity of Pringles (total Carbs - 27g) so my BG jumped to 5.7 after 90 minutes and was 5.4 after 120 minutes. This last one I can kind of understand as the carb intake was almost double of Saturdays.

My question-
On Saturday, even though my BG jumped by over 2, it was still under 6. Is this good? Or is the fact that it jumped by over 2 something to watch?

You have a little bit of leeway with meter readings in that they are not 100% accurate and can be up to 15% out at times. Look for patterns and ditch the Pringles.

Opinions differ on whether the 2 is the key, or the number is the key.

One comment I will say is I'd have been curious to see what your bloods were 15/30 minutes after your 2 hour reading, bearing in mind your 2 hour was higher than the 90 minutes.

Is below 6 bad then?
Not getting it if it is?

Below 6 is fine. The recommendation for Type 2s is to aim for a jump of 2mmols or less two hours after eating...and trying to keep that top figure post meal at under 8.5mmols. So, basically, 6 is a bit high if your pre-meal two hours earlier was under 4...but not by much and I think it's safe to say that while many on this site (particularly on low carb diets) achieve average levels of under 6mmols...just a m any have much higher averages. Personally, I am happy if my pre-meal is between 5.4 and 6.2 so long as my post meal reading doesn't go much above 8 mmols...but if I am being a good boy, I won't be as high as that. If I was around 6mmols after every meal, I would be very content. It is all relative, of course, but for me 6 is absolutely fine.

I would think those are really good numbers that millions of T2D would be happy with.

Thanks everyone. I'll keep an eye on this.

Obviously very happy with the overall numbers but I was just a little concerned with the spike, especially on Saturday. I nornally don't see a spike of over 2 unless I take a lot of carbs on board e.g. the occasioanl treat.
