Absolutely. We all have that choice. 20 years alcoholic (not now) and the fact that I had Type 1 made absolutely no impact whatsoever on me wishing to stop..
I might be able to understand if the poster took LSD once in a blue moon and had not got emotionally addicted to it and then becomes diabetic.. The fear / responsibility could well be enough for the person to sort their life out. However if the person is an addict I wouldn't think they would even bother asking if they could take it. They would do it regardless which would make the post pointless..
We are all different though but I have never heard an addict say "I stopped using and drinking because I got diabetes"
I could well be wrong though
