Lsd

This is all getting rather confusing, so I am going to make myself a nice cup of tea :) and chill out.
Sure is. My own heart is beating rather fast right now as well, waiting for the bolus to kick in.

For what it's worth ( probably not much ) I feel the OP should have posted.
Can I take LSD?
Moreover with the www at his fingertips I suspect he may already have the answer to the question.
For me the question isn't about yes or no, but more about justifying any actions he takes.

Yes you can take LSD, and then you can hope that it will bring you back again in one piece.
No looking at the Sun while trippin' either, or taking a high dive out of a window because it was a good idea.

Curiousity get the better of me, and after a google I found this, a reddit discussion amongst users of um, psychedelics, on doing it safely

https://www.reddit.com/r/Drugs/comments/1w7p0y/type_1_diabetes_and_psychedelics/

I would, moving into mother mode, strongly advise NOT doing it, as unfortunately, a too frequent cause of death for young adults with type 1 diabetes is drug or alcohol abuse, because it makes harder to manage the diabetes.

However, if the OP is going to give it a try, there is some safety advice in that reddit discussion

What I can remember of the swinging sixties, that the powers that be recommended if you are going to take LSD. Was to have a non user to stop you doing stupid things / self harm under it's influence while you are high and tripping.

I think it would be wise to have a non user present to stop you doing stupid things. With diabetes in the mix, that would include stupid things with insulin.
I think what I would do is have a friend keep an eye on if I'm regularly checking my bg, and let them keep an eye on what the numbers on my meter say as well. Just in case my meter says 5.1 but I see a pink elephant telling me I should take 40 units of quick acting. And no injecting without consent from this chaperonne.
I have one friend I would trust with managing my diabetes for a couple of hours, so she would have to be there should I ever decide to try LSD.

Ladies and Gents - can we be clear here that the posession use or supply of LSD is a criminal offence in the UK.

I accept that many people, knowingly or otherwise will break the law daily (including exceeding the speed limit), however members posting seeming to encourage or facilitate harmful and/or criminal activity will not be tolerated on the forum.

Thank you for your compliance.

A common sense response from admin

Taking LSD is illegal and its a class A drug, so please do not take it. Too many horror stories about people taking LSD and not coming back or having their lives ruined, Peter Green and Syd Barrett immediately spring to mind (google them if you don't know who they are)

Even if you did take LSD you have no idea what you are taking its not regulated and god knows what a dealer could be putting in it.

IMO T1 and LSD are a potentially dangerous mix. Impaired, or altered, consciousness could result in a very serious medical emergency if meds are misused and/or hypos mistaken for a psychedelic experience.
As pointed out, it’s illegal, and moreover the purity of a drug supplied by a dealer cannot be guaranteed.

If you read between the lines, <snip>

So you read something, then decided it meant something else? You seem to be the only one suggesting abusive phrasing. All the other advice seems pretty reasonable.

I'm advocating answering questions with information about what would happen, not whether he should do it or not. I don't think he should do it either, but I also believe he has the right to whatever he wants with his body, but that it's better to be informed about what would happen and why instead of just saying don't do it.
I tend to hold unpopular opinions and use unpopular language, and I don't care whether people like me or not. If you think I'm wrong or being an idiot or whatever, that's entirely up to you and I'm fine with that.

Ladies and Gentlemen can we keep this thread on the subject of the original enquiry which was a type 1 asking if he can take LSD? Illegal drugs can cause controversy so please respect others views even if they differ from your own. Thank you

Rachox, do you honestly believe that the OP is actually a T1 asking a legitimate question, or just someone mucking about ?

I despair with this forum sometimes :banghead:

Hi @britishpub , there are certainly T1s who probably refrain from asking this very question.
We all hang out with non D friends leading a "normal" life..

I once (in my yoof.) faced the same dilemma knowing that Diabetes in the "equation" could go horribly wrong...
I had the chance to experiment with hallucinogens, but the company I kept at the time gave me this sound advice knowing my character & the fact I am a T1.
"Sit this one out. & leave it alone. You got quite an imagination as it is..."

With the luxury years later of experience & hindsight? I'm glad i did pass "this one" over....
What I saw as I monitored my mates proceed without me on this venture, was like being in a David Cronenberg movie. ;)

Whatever the legal or moral standpoint. Some "drugs" just don't mix... & there is no shame in saying no. :)
