I have been on the maximum Gliclazide for two years and a diabetic for ten. I am 56 and only a year ago was fit enough to be kickboxing sparring and climbing mountains. Six months ago my BS level started veering out of control and I was put on metformin. This made me ill and didnt work. I was then told to stay on the maximum gliclazide for another 3 months before what seemed reluctantly my GP referred me to the hospital diabetic clinic. I then had to wait another month or so and a chase up before receeiving an appointment.
Now I am too tired and weak to climb stairs and my levels range from 13 to 22. I am not overweight and never have been. Noer wa smy brother who went on insulin too late in his opinion and died in diabetic coma.
How high does the BS have to go efore GP's take it seriously. I keep being told my diabetes is not that bad so why do I feel so ill and tied when it goes above 15 adn so goo when it wa sbelow 10?
Any opinions would be appreciated but preferably from those in a similar situation.
thanks
