Mechanism by which saturated fat raises LDL

So, what do they have in common - no ultraprocessed food (including chemically extracted seed oils, low sugar, no flour) - but it must be low fat diets causing the lack of CVD?
Both have low fat diets but the tsimane have only 11% saturated fat. Okinawans only 14% total fat. Neither eats dairy. Both prefer fish to meat.

Good point. I can't offer an explanation for the French Paradox or I would be a millionaire. However findings of studies of the diets of peoples in the "Blue Zones" support those of the Tsimane study. ie their diets mostly contain if anything less meat than the Tsimane diet; meats tend to be high in omega 3 s as they are from grass fed animals, so overall they eat very little saturated fat and have very low, if not non existent, rates of cardiovascular disease. (And diabetes).
The idea that grass fed beef is so different from. The other stuff in terms of omega 3 v 6 is not correct . Whilst it's true it's lower omega 6 the difference is about the same as a walnut half for 100g steak I will try and find the source for that tomorrow .

My personal bet based on my own blood cholesterol results following a deliberate increase in saturated fats is - eating sat fats makes me LESS likely to have a heart attack .
Eating less carbs and less veg oils also makes me LESS likely to have a heart attack . I think.im gonna go eventually but it's not going to be a heart attack that carries me off .
I think the cupltit is industrial foods . So my future will be without that but with meat and butter.
The eskimos face a similar problem with diabetes growing after the introduction of western culture. Japan is also seeing this effect taking place, and theirs used to be a high carb low fat diet, whereas the eskimo were using a low carb high fat/protein diet,

CORRECTION Sorry they have 24% total fat. 14% was what they ate in the 1950's when they were middle aged. (And 10% before the war.) I might try it after I finish my Newcastle. I think I'll pass on the snake soup though!

I think the culprit is chocolate biscuits, ice cream, pies and cakes, not natural high fibre carbs. Tsimane and Okinawans both eat lots of sweet potatoes, and generally only real foods, not manufactured baked goods..

Hopefully you will also pass on your experiences on it and share pogress with the Forum. We are all free to make our own minds up on how our personal lives are run, except when institutionlised such as in hospital or the army or prison etc,

I think most diets that shun modern processed foods and go back to basic fare will be beneficial, and considered healthier than modern diets.

I agree completely that until one develops carb intolerance as a result of manufactured foods, one can probably eat real food carbs without any great problems . This probably means that following a high carb diet of natural foods is perfectly fine for most.
Once the carb intolerance has developed for whatever reason then no matter who you are or what type of carbs - they still need to be reduced.

I don't particularly buy that its the act of then not eating meats that makes much difference to health. Instead its the infiltration of the western diet- om 6 and processed that causes the problems.
