I have just been put a extra glcside can it make me feel ill

What kind of ill? Do you test your blood sugar when you feel ill?

You need to give more detail for people to give you ideas

Blurred vision shaky and sick feeling
Hi. Gliclazide can result in hypos if the dose is too high so use the meter to check what your blood sugar level is when you have those symptoms. Gliclazide itself doesn't normally cause any ill effects apart from hypos if the dose is too high. BTW are you having a low-carb diet as that's a good start point before starting Gliclazide.

Hi @Diane_56 ,

Just out of curiosity.. If you are a driver?
Have any of your HCPs advised you to inform DVLA regarding your diabetes medication?

Gliclazide made me feel very ill within a day or two of starting it at a low dose.

Weak, shaky, nauseous, disorientated, very drowsy, rubbery mouth.

No hypos. Adequate food.

I stopped taking it.

I’m very sensitive to meds and I’m now trying LCHF thanks to this site. Good signs so far.

Best wishes

Hi,

The new "norm" of lower blood sugar levels after running higher for a length of time could also contribute to these "symptoms" until one gets used to the healthier BG parameters?
It's called a "false hypo." (Not undermining how it would feel, just the body acclimatising to the new levels.)
Always use your meter to monitor BGs with a close eye whilst using these meds or changing one's diet..

I was monitoring carefully as I am aware of the risks of trying new meds. My BGLs didn’t actually improve so there was no new norm for me.

Notwithstanding, I appreciate this information @Jaylee and will keep it in mind for the future.

I suggest you dont stop your meds, but talk to your nurse about how you feel. Gradually lower your carbs to avoid the fasle hypos and keep a record of your blood testing results, so you can see what is happening.

How often do you test, and when?
