Hi Lynton. You don't say whether you are taking Gliclazide or Insulin or both. If so that entitles you to a meter and strips through the NHS. Ask your GP.
Hi Lynton, yes I would have to agree and say go for the codefree. What I will say is when you buy it also get a box of lancets and extra test strips as the amount in the starter pack with the meter probably won't last you very long if you are testing multiple times a day.

As above, in the post from asparagusp, so, if you are prescribed a drug from the sulphonimide group, ie Gliclazide, Glipizide, plus others (cause pancreas to push out more insulin) or, in fact, on insulin, you should have been given a meter, plus test strips and lancets on prescription by your surgery/GP.
Also, if you have been diagnosed as being Diabetic, whether Type 1 or 2 etc, you are entitled to exemption of VAT when buying a meter and/or test strips and lancets. There will be a box to tick to this effect somewhere during the ordering process.
As mentioned above, the Codefree is very popular because the replacement strips are much cheaper than other makes, and it is a good little meter. If you follow the link to Home Health you can order a starter pack, and then also order some extra strips because you will need a lot. Tick the box saying you are diabetic for zero VAT.
