Hi, you may remember I posted a few months ago about being newly diagnosed and running the marathon. They prescribed gliclazide which after listening to a few of you I didn’t take but changed my diet completely. My HbaC1 in April was 84. I saw the consultant on the 19th June and it had come down to 50. My morning finger prick tests are still high 7-9 but it stays normal throughout the day. I’ve slowly introduced some carbs, rice, sourdough bread occasionally and it seems to remain below 10 at peak. The consultant wants me to take metformin twice a day but I’m really not sure whether to or stick with the new diet and see how it goes. They’ve tested for LADA but I haven’t had the results back yet. My triglycerides were slightly higher too and he’s said take statins but again I’m not certain. Any advice please? Thanks
