Metformin tablets staying in stomach

I threw up at 3am yesterday and there were six whole Metformin tablets in the vomit. I saw the pharmacist at my GP surgery yesterday and she just said "how strange" and said not to worry about it. Is this normal?

If you're on Slow/Extended Release metformin, the tablets dissolve slower.... But six is a bit strange, if they've accumulated over the course of days.

Are you on antacids by any chance? If you have little stomach acid, that might explain things as well?

Love me a good puzzle, but it's all guesswork.

Thanks JoKalsbeek, I don't take antacids and I haven't vomited for months so I don't know if this has happened before. I was surprised that the pharmacist didn't think it was worth checking with the GP.
I take two Metformin tablets a day so it would have been three days worth.
I'll just carry on as normal.
 
A couple of posts have been deleted by mods as they were off topic and had the potential to derail the thread, the question isn’t about what made the OP sick but asking if anyone has experience of metformin still being in the stomach

Are you using the SR version ?

The tablet shell for some brands of this medication does not dissolve. This is normal. The tablet shell may appear whole in the stool. This is not a cause for concern.
