Mods and Rockers

Bangs - were the soulers wide legged pants .
If I remember correctly ?
Oxford bags or parallels! Had a pair of Fleming's!

Answers on a postcard!

There Is by The Dell's. On my playlist now.

Mod! Into Nortern soul and Motown, too busy to be bothered with the other tribes. But some early hippies were a pain!
It was into my late teens when skinheads evolved, and I can remember them as not being racist or associated with neo Nazis. In fact because of the music, they had more in common with anti racial sympathies than anything else. They became politicised because of huge unemployment in the Thatcher era.
Fun days hah!

Still wear Ben Sherman shirts and have a Harrington! Walked past Top Man, and there they are in the window, latest fashion again. Good design never goes out of fashion.
Thought it was Crombie jackets went with Ben Sherman shirts (the stitched pleat down the back?) or am I mixing my memories?

Will amphetamine fuelled Wigan Casino be on it?

I wanted to go to Wigan Casino, but my mum wouldn't let me, too far way. A lot went on a Wigan, I found that out later :wideyed:. Anyone remember the Blues and Soul magazine ? I have one tucked away. Will have to search it out.

Yeah been both, for football.
Think I meant to say been to the Wigan pier!

You're right, here's me in my flares and afghan jacket on my backpack, early 70s, about time they came back inot fashion! :D

Mine were called "french cut" sort of flares but wide cut from the hip - that's when I had a flat stomach and they draped beautifully with a smart crease down the front

Guess I was neither. Here's me in 1972, listening to my dad's 8-tracks, in my mini-dress. My mom would yell at me for listening to music for long periods because the heavy headphones made my ears bright red. :D

Our group used to be called The Roddy Mockers, as a mixed group of bikers with both scooters and motor bikes we relished the fact we annoyed both camps as we wouldn't take sides in the fights. Always was a bit of a rebel, too long in the tooth now to change.

not old enough, never made an appearance till 72, but i had been around i'd have been sat astride a Velocette Venom

How sweet FG, lovely photo X

I guess as I had a scooter myself I was a MOD at heart, though I did and still do love being a pillion on a big grunter, mmmmmmmmm vvvrroooommm vvrroommmm.

I used to know some mods, horrible lot these though, called themselves the Betlyturf Gang. Don't ask me why but it seemed like whatever you did they knew about it and if it was something that upset them, they wouldn't hesitate to let you know. A good mate of mine who was a member once did something wrong which upset the gang and he had all privileges related to this club taken from him for a while which meant he couldn't take part in any of the activities of the club. Being a loyal member though, he stayed and I think he still keeps in touch with some of the other members even today including me. Anyway, I sold my Lambretta and bought a "Y" reg Givern import, worst thing on Gods earth. It started ok and sat there idling but try to get any sort of response from it......................no chance, it was like flogging a dead horse. Needless to say we parted and I ended up getting a car.
