Maybe I gave the wrong impression, but I don't think that it's necessary to go down as far as 10g. If you want to stay in ketosis, then 30g is a good target to aim for, and should give you lots of room to eat plenty of veg. I basically try and aim at zero carbs other that those in salad and veg (with a bit of dressing thrown in) plus I usually eat a low-carb protein bar for breakfast (7g). I'm probably at about 20g most days.
If you spread your 30g out across three meals, you shouldn't be seeing any spike at all. My BG rarely goes above 6mmol/l ever (apart from exercise induced liver dumps).
Well-done, it sounds like you're doing brilliantly.
Here is some motivation for you:

Thanks for the support everyone x

You are doing brilliantly. Your diet really is varied and healthy. I find a VLC diet is really easy and I managed under 10g of carbs every day. Today is 6g with the lovely chicken and leek soup you suggested. In time if I can get my appetite back on track I may increase slightly, but to be honest I really enjoy the VLC foods, so I don't feel deprived. I actually like this diet, it has made me feel better than I have in a long, long time. Anyway, well done you! xx

In other words you managed to almost completely reverse your diabetes with just a few changes to your diet! That's brilliant! Low carb rocks for sure!

viviennem said:Well done Jeanne! I feel like that too - before diabetes the new fitter me was always 'just about' to happen. With Type 2 it had to happen NOW! Slowly but surely we're getting there.
By the way, who and what is the small person trying to stand on your palm?

This is the diet I follw (except for the odd lapse!) and after 18 months my BG levels are nearly at non-diabetic levels much of the time.
Jeannesmum, you should have no trouble losing weight on 25 - 30g of carb daily. Remember, though, that weight loss will naturally slow after a while, so don't obsess about it. Good luck!
