How long do the side effects of Mounjaro last? I've been on the starting dose 2.5 mg for 3 weeks now (3rd injection on Saturday) and I can't hold anything in. It just goes straight through my gut and ends up with being on the toilet for hours on end.

My DN, GP, Pharmacist, Hospital Doctor all said the same thing to wait out the side effects and take loperamide after each episode and not eat much. But it's getting to the point now, where I don't have any control of my bowels and have had multiple incidents where I can't even enjoy myself outside of my house.

My.blood sugars have been fine and I've reduced all aspects of my diabetic medication to 0, apart from taking Creon and Tostran.

Hi @akindrat18 .
Sorry you are having this difficulty. Also sorry I have no experience of Mounjaro. Hopefully someone who has will see your post and be able to comment based on their own experience with this med.

From your previous forum posts, I see you seem to have had digestive gut problems a lot previously. Can you be sure it is the Mounjaro causing the problem you have. Is there anything else going on? What are you eating? Has your doctor suggested investigating other causes?

My doctor hasn't investigated any further into my digestive gut problems, but I have been to the hospital with them and apart from putting me on a drip of fluids for 2 hours and performing blood tests, which have all comeback positive, there are no further actions being taken by my doctor or the hospital. Even if I eat a small amount of food, I then spend copious amounts of time rushing to the toilet, as I simply can't hold any of it down.

I've requested to get in touch to see a dietitian about it, as there was one day when I only had 3 fruit pastilles to keep my blood sugars from dropping too low.
