Happy Birthday, Alex Harvey, 80 today (well, he would have been, had he not died at 47 :(). I like to think that he would have become a thoroughly disreputable old man and that he'd still be doing things like this .....

A great talent. Not sure if it was this appearance on OGWT, but on one occasion, he famously painted "Vambo rule OK" across the studio wall during the programme and the cameramen had to spend the rest of the show trying to avoid it showing up in the background. Hooligan. :D

Could have been Scotlands answer to the Doors maybe.
Great band great character.I think I've posted a couple of his toons in this thread.
80!!!!!

Even at the height of SAHB's fame, he wasn't exactly a fresh-faced youth :) I think he started out playing skiffle and R&B in the late 50's

Rather a sad family; iirc his brother Leslie Harvey, who was the lead guitarist with Stone the Crows, was electrocuted on stage at a gig.

Another one gone too soon - Arthur Lee and Love. Forever Changes album still sound fresh after all these years

Just watched graham Norton show and this song was played .
It blew me away - so soulful .
