My all time favourite guitarists would be, in no particular order:

Stevie Ray Vaughan

Love "Texas Flood". It's an absolute nightmare to play on Rock Band 3, though
I'll check the song you linked to out as well - always happy to hear new stuff.

desidiabulum - you're welcome and I had a good giggle at your diabetic rock band names!! I vote for Fours the Floor :D

Didn't know you were a guitarist, Sid -- that gives me an idea
Any suggestions for a name for a diabetic rock group?

Four's the Floor?
The FreeStyle Lites?
Novarapid?
The sulphonylureas?
Ketoacidosis?

Wasnt Ketoacidosis a song from Mary Popins? Supercalifragilisticketoacidosis! Even though the sound of it is something quite atrocious!

BlindFaith, have you heard of Amorphis? Could try 'Tuonela'

How do you feel about Nightwish?

You may like Kashmir - Danish band. Try with 'Make it grand' or 'In the sand'.

Mew - 'Am I wry. No.' or 'Beach'

The Rumour Said Fire - 'Balcony' or the absolutely brilliant 'Sanctuary'.

Doublestone - 'Low'

Veto - 'Cannibal'

Should be youtubable.

Well I'll be flabergasted!

I thought I had a pretty wide taste in music covering many genres and decades but I confess that I have never even heard of 90% of Blindfaith's list.

Sid, you missed BB King... how could you?

I like most blues, most (older) country, some big band/swing jazz, "kerrang" style punk, dance/hip hop/urban at the gym, I can listen to almost anything thats been in the charts since 1960 or so, classic albums (James Taylor, Eagles, Paul Simon, etc), live concert recordings. About the only thing I can't tolerate is heavy opera (Although I'm ok with the likes of Carmen) and Cleo Lane type jazz.

I like quality voices, harmonies, excellent musicianship and good sound recording engineering.

Chacun a son gout (spelling?) I suppose (Everyone to his/her own taste)

LOVED these two! I need to check more of their stuff out - are there any other songs you recommend?
Not sure about Nightwish but I'll give them a listen - is there anything in particular I should listen to?

Dougie22 - I hear that a lot  a friend of mine found out we both listen to 3 Doors Down and said "ooh I should go through your iTunes and see what else we have in common!!"
The answer? "I have no idea who 90% of your music list is!"

I now have Phideaux (their short track "Crumble" was used as the first dance at my wedding), Mars Volta, Anathema, Coheed & Cambria to check out and I think I'll listen to some more Muse as well.

I have money on my iTunes account that's begging me to buy music

Nightwish - Try 'Amarath' and 'Eva'.

Could check out Agnes Obel - 'Riverside' too

'Passion' and 'The Arrogant' by Rumour Said Fire are good too.

I really like "Riverside", it's beautiful!

I've got a couple you might like:
Broken Horse, by Freelance Whales
Shut Eye, by Stealing Sheep
My Body Is A Cage, by Sara Lov
House Carpenter, by Nickel Creek
(there's also a song of the same name based on this by a hard rock band called HURT....it's amazing.)

There is of course that other song from the same musical.
‘Just a spoonfull of sugar makes the blood glucose go up ... In the most alarming way’

And thinking of Julie Andrews musicals....

‘Low BG numbers that show on my meter,
Menus with food for the diabetic eater,
GPs and DNs who like listening,
These are a few of my favourite things.’

On reflection, Ketoacidosis sounds more like a heavy metal band.

I dreamed a dream in time gone by
when carbs were high
and life worth living
I dreamed with numbers through the sky
and prayed my meter be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
and carbs were eaten, although wasted,
there was no reason in my head
no food untouched, no meal untasted.

Now there are veggies everywhere,
cauliflower, toms and spinach,
and they tore my dreams apart
and they turned my dream to shame.

And still I dream of fish and chips,
of buttered bread and proper spag bol,
but there are dreams that cannot be,
and there's a low carb menu waiting.

I had a dream my life would be
based on a starchy mass of pasta,
that's what they told me I should do,
my meter, dang it, killed that dream.

Wonderful!   (and how many languages do you speak, again?).
Now we just need to get Susan Boyle to sing it...

Listen to Radio 2 at work and in the car, at home I rarely listen to music now but do like rock music over anything else, Bruce Springsteen, Rainbow, Iron Maiden, Guns 'n' Roses are just a few of what I listen too.
