My low carb/IF Diet - BG and progress

The F relates to fasting. I try not to dwell on my FBG too much. Your pre and post meal readings are more important. My FBG is still quite often in the 6-7's but my Hb results are still in the 30's.

@vickk - do you do stuff before you take your first bg? If I take my FBG after I've been up and doing stuff, then it will be higher. I take mine as soon as I'm awake and from my bedside table.

Diabetic nurse said FBG will only reflect on what you've had yesterday and isn't that important - the hba1c is the true measure.

And like ratbags has said, your meal ones tell you more about the food you're eating and its effect on you.

I would say though, I didn't realise how bad for me certain foods were because my two hour reading was below 8. Someone on here commented on something I'd posted and advised me to test at an hour too to see what the main spike was. It was a real eye opener!! So now I stick to foods I know don't cause a spike at one and two hours. If I don't know what a good does to me, then I'll test and decide after....

It's a mine field sometimes but as we build up our self knowledge, we can beat this ****!!!

Food today...

L: roast chicken, cauli mash and broccoli. Cheesecake fluff. Water.

D: bacon and scrambled eggs. Tea.

Tomorrow won't be so good....

Happy birthday to me! The big 4-0.

L: lamb stew. Tiny square birthday cake. Water.

D: countless bread rolls, ribs, sweet potato fries, salad and lots of Diet Coke. Lovely ice cream sundae for dessert.

And that's it. I'm meeting a friend for breakfast in the morning and am hoping I'm not led astray by with croissants.....here's hoping I stick to the fry up bits only....

Took a reading just for fun earlier....11.6

Ouch! Well, at least you now know what to avoid. :( (I think spikes like that happens to most of us at one time or another.)

Happy Birthday!

I knew it was bad but it's one day out of my whole year so thought why not?! I've been perfect for a month but I do hope it doesn't take me out of ketosis for too long....xx

7.3 this morning so my days off the wagon are now over. Had breakfast yesterday with my friend and couldn't resist the croissants but did enjoy a nice cooked brekkie too washed down with lots of coffee!

It kept me full all day until 11pm. I toyed with the idea of not eating at all but the pangs got unbearable.

But I'm starting my fasting again today so will need to stay strong and not eat till lunch time, despite taking the kids to a birthday party mid morning....

Sending you tons of ((((( willpowerer)))))

Back on to fasting and low carb. Carbs are awful and make me feel rubbish anyway. Clean living from now on!! X

Today was fine going back to low carbing after birthday treats! Woke up starving but resisted.

L: bacon and eggs. Coffee.

D: lamb stew, green beans, sprouts. Tea after.

I feel totally satisfied. LCHF is definitely the easiest way to diet.

Got doc tomorrow evening to discuss pain meds and switching. Hopefully it'll make a huge difference to my sleeping....

Hope you all have a great Monday! Xxx

I know what you mean Deb, going back to carbs for even a couple of days makes me feel absolutely awful as well. Its great you were able to enjoy yourself over your birthday and even more great that you were able to get back on track with your fasting and LCHF so quickly :D

Thanks! It's not worth the agro is it?! Plus I want to push ahead and sort myself out. I bought a pair of trousers today for work in a smaller size today - now that feels better than being sat on the loo with an upset tum!!!

I'm trying now to cut back a bit on dairy....

L: lamb stew washed down with water.

D: courgetti with meaty mozerrella sauce. Water.

7.0

I was expecting a low reading today. Hardly ate anything yesterday and stopped early too. So annoying

Saw doc last night and have had meds changed....hopefully they'll make a difference to my pain so I get better sleep!

UHi debmcgee, the secret is to treat our your bs like a baby, small regular feeds then your body knows what's coming and will not dump glucose so much as it has a small steady regular supply of food to keep it steady.clive
