Hi my name is Karen and today my nan had her foot amputated due to a foot ulcer that turned into gangene. She hadn't seen a doctor in 20 years and hadn't been to a hospital in 49 years. She had a fall because the infection was in her body and she was weak. Her blood suger was 14.7. The district nurses where treating with compression bandages and saying it was a blood blister that needed to be drawn out over time. My nan had another fall two weeks after and she agreed to go with paramedics to the hospital since then she has been in intensive care, told she was nearly dying and now has lost half her foot! She is very depressed and obviously in shock over this. She wants to go home and die.
