Hi - am new to the website and forums but am not newly diagnosed; have had Type 2 for around 20 years. I'm having a nightmare just now and can't get sugars down. Am wary of increasing insulin dose because I know that my long-acting Humalog Mix25 will take time to have an effect but I'm now desperate. Does anyone have any tips? I'm gone from low carbs (last week) to now barely eating but feel like I've eaten a 3-course meal all the time; am drinking plenty of water though. Happy to share any other details that may help... just didn't want to write an essay for my first post.

Hello @KateyTee You might need to contact your doctor or whoever oversees your diabetes treatment, as being high all the time isn't good - I am no expert but I think that the mixed insulin is the problem, so you need some proper guidance and maybe changing to separate ones to give you control.
Being left on mixed insulin for so long seems unusual from what I have read - but if it used to work....

@Resurgam - thank you for responding. I haven’t been on the mixed insulin for 20 years but your comment is interesting so will definitely investigate. Had a good reading (4.9 - so a bit low for me TBH) before lunch so I think my eating efforts and tiny insulin increases have paid dividends. I am 6 months overdue a review so a call to the practice nurse is in order I think! I’m less panicky now than I was over the weekend - just need to stabilise now and keep things in single figures.

I am glad you are contacting the nurse. Sometimes others things can affect our diabetes, so medical input is a good idea.
