Need Low Carb No Sugar Low Sodium recipes Please

Hi, I'm trying to put together a menu for myself that includes baked foods like cake and muffins etc... but it's really difficult
trying to figure out what substitutes I can use for things like vegtable oil, baking soda etc...
I also would like to be able to make a smoothie that tastes like banana mixed with chocolate but I have no idea what I could use instead of banana.
Im thinking I would most probably have to make my own chocolate using Stevia instead of sugar. So if someone could share a chocolate recipe, that would be great.

I only want to eat a meal if it has NO Sugar, and if possible, NO Sodium in it.
So with that in mind I was hoping users on the forum could share some recipes for the following meals. Thanks!

Chocolate Cake (Using Stevia)
Muffins
Brownies
Banana and Chocolate Smoothie

Curry sauce with rice
Soup
Vegeburgers
!

Hi Mike

If you cut out as many (or all) processed foods as you can then you would be excluding a lot of high sugar & high sodium foods.

If you are trying to get your blood sugars under control it might be easier to go "cold turkey" and cut out all cakes and baked goods for a while until you break old eating habits.
There are lots of recipes on the low carb forum for cakes, breads and cookies etc generally avoiding traditional flours and sugar/honey etc

There is also an intro section on that forum which may be useful.

Do you have a meter? testing how each type of food affects your blood sugar levels really helps figure out how your own body works. Some people can eat small amounts of carbs, such as a slice of bread, others cant.

Suggestions for rice is to use cauliflower, blitz it in a processor till rice grain sized then fry it. Make your own soups, try low carb veg combinations such as broccoli and Stilton or roasted red pepper.

As for vegeburgers, you could try making your own with beans and lower carb veg, using mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potato.

Hello Mike, just to help you in your quest to have treats that are not bad for you!! I have just looked on my jar of Stevia, Canderel Green:- 1 teaspoon of Canderal Green (2kcals) is equivalent in sweetness to1 teaspoon of sugar (20kcal). So 1 teaspoon of CG is(0.5g) 1 teaspoon of sugar(5g).
The simple basic sponge mix is 1 egg, 2ozs Butter or simular, 2ozs Self raising flour, (2ozs sugar), so just change the sugar for the canderal, but this would need to be to your own taste, I think to swop like amount would be far toooo sweet. If you like cooked apple, use eating apples as theya re naturally sweet, so ne need for extra sweetening.
If you like crumble make the mix 2ozs plain flour, 1oz butter or such, and use canderal to personal taste, over the eating apples, with cream or diabtic ice cream,
but if you have to have custard then again only use 1/2 pint of semi skimmed to 1/2 tablespoon of custard powder and canderal to your taste. Please remember to eat lower carb foods if you are going to treat yourself, and then you can balance your bs levels, and achieve your goals, good luck and let us know how you go, ttfn

But then eating all that flour and apples and custard powder and semi skimmed milk negates what he wanted low carb no sugar. He may as well toss on real sugar cause a bit of canderel will be a waste of time. l also remember people saying diabetic ice cream is a big pile of badness. .... unless you do Scandi version.

I agree wholeheartedly with @Mud Island Dweller . When I made the decision to go LCHF I did so overnight and gave up all sweets, cakes, biscuits, desserts immediately. I didn't look for substitutes and didn't miss them at all. Nor did I have the usual cravings or carb flu. The large jar of Stevia I bought in March when I "converted" remains unopened in my cupboard as I never used to use sugar in drinks or added to foods and still feel no need for it.

I wouldn't touch custard now with all its added starches or apples, bananas or flour based dishes. I'm enjoying the pure foods - berries with fresh cream or Greek yoghurt and the occasional small helping of ice-cream since discovering that the Waitrose and M & S Clotted Cream ice-creams don't spike my sugars and have become my occasional treat.

I'm strict with my breakfast (fresh, mixed berries with Greek yoghurt) and lunch (celery sticks spread with soft cheese and a quality coleslaw and salad leaves on the side) and a good meal in the evening which is free of all grains, starches, rice and potatoes and usually meat or fish with vegetables or salad.

It is a whole new way of living and eating and looking for substitutes for old, unhealthy dishes, is perhaps not grasping the concept of LCHF. Its a complete conversion, with the emphasis on fresh, pure, unadulterated foods, apart from the occasional treat ... :D
