Negative diagnosis

Hi went to hospital 12 weeks ago with an infection and at the time they said I had diabetes and an average level of 19.6 BGL. Fast forward 6 weeks after waiting for the text to come back to see which one I was the hosp didn’t actually do the test. So to day had my results back from them and were negative for diabetes. Anyone had this or know of anyone that has?
 
Not had it. Diagnosis in the UK is normally by HbA1C test result (over 47 = Diabetes, under 42 is normal non-diabetic in current UK units). HbA1C gives an approximation of the BG levels over the last 3 months. BG levels fluctuate during the day (and night) affected by lots of thing, but mainly food and exercise.

Which test did hospital not do? Was it the HbA1C test, or the separate test(s) to determine if you had Diabetes Type 1 rather than the more common Type 2.

Unfortunately about 40 things other than food can raise BGL and 2 of those may apply in your case: Infection/illness and Stress.
 
The test to see which one I was. My hbac level was 127 when I went in with sepsis in my foot. Obviously they put me on insulin when I left hosp so my levels are now below 10 and that would of showed in the test after 6 weeks anyway
 
Have you spoken to your GP about your recent results?
I would certainly question the diagnosis, get retests and review treatment now that the infection has been treated.

I was misdiagnosed T2, but with different circumstances.
 
The test I had was after the infection had gone and my bgl were down from 19 to average of 9 so maybe it was because of that
 
I would still have the GP talk about future treatment.
