Good afternoon all, I am a type 2 diabetic with very problematic neuropathy in my feet and lower legs. I now have a constant limp and at night, when I lie down, the pain and discomfort is awful. I take amitriptyline nightly and this puts me to sleep but does not necessarily keep me asleep so the pain throughout the night is constant and varies in severity. If I do not take my amitriptyline, then I with either not sleep at all or if I fall asleep, I have breakthrough pain which results in bad nightmares of either being bitten by sharks or a truck driving over my feet and legs.
Is there anything that you have tried or can recommend to provide some additional support and to reduce the pain and discomfort. the pain varies between feet at any given time, in my toes, feet or lower legs. I was hoping that I could find some way to relieve this pain without further medication - feet supports, ankle supports/straps etc.
Any feedback would be very much appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
