@Giverny i use google chrome
Please ensure that your browser is fully updated to the latest version https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95414?hl=en-GB - it's quite a modern CSS trick we're using to make the circles 'pulse', so older browsers might not pick up on it.

I don't know what browser I use now but I do know it is not Chrome because I uninstalled that a little while ago as it was causing me problems when I used it
Think it is Internet Explorer as that is my default one
I recommend using either Firefox or Chrome - internet explorer is quite a problematic browser for most websites these days. It's better than it used to be but still isn't great.

My green circle is still showing so does that mean I can see it but others can't
As previously stated, you'll always see your own. If you're not set to show as online to other users then they won't see the circle.

@Giverny I turned off smooth scrolling and it made it worse, guess I'll just have to live with it, its not so bad today and the pages are loading faster ,don't like Chrome so will stick with IE, but thanks anyway. can I just say I don't like the New Profile Posts thingy its a bit tacky, also even with the online status thing turned off I'm still showing in the members online list

@Giverny Same as @satindoll. Turning off the smooth scrolling made it worse, and I also don't like Chrome or Firefox. On odd occasions it is better, normal in fact, then it goes back to jerks and stalls when scrolling. Also when typing a reply, sometimes I am way in front of the letters appearing on my screen. (Not always)

Edit. It is working perfectly now. That isn't to say it will be in 5 minutes!

Any chance you could refresh your cache (press shift and F5) and let me know if there's any change?

@Giverny

Very marginally smoother, will try that again if it gets bumpy again and let you know
Silly question I know but what does that do.

Basically, your browser downloads a copy of most websites that you open just so it can load them faster in future - that's called a cache. This can cause a few issues when things are updated, as your computer is still trying to use the copy it has rather than the copy that's been updated online.

Thank you, coo I learn something new every day, I thought using the tools thingy on the browser did that, I use it before shutting down the browser every time.

@Giverny LOL. I've cleared my cache (I do it regularly anyway) and it has made it worse!
I'm really struggling to determine what's causing the problem. I can't replicate it myself at all.

Customer helplines that use recorded menus that promise to put me through to the right person but never do - and being ill. Oh, and did I mention customer helplines :)
I haven't read through this whole thread so don't know if this has been mentioned but......

I found that the 'recent posts' button was missing until I was logged on which I found annoying as I didn't intend to post I just wanted to scan the newer posts.

Now I am viewing the forum on my tablet as my two PC,s are both in pieces at the moment awaiting repairs/upgrades however I am viewing the forum as a web page on my tablet so I assume the afore mentioned button has been removed.

Please can it be replaced as speed is everything in today's busy world :)

Never mind. I'll have to put up with it. Thank you so much for trying.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Will see if we can get this re-added to the template. For now, you'll just have to log in :)

@Giverny ....writting messages on profiles ....how can I be sure only I see them or the person/s sending them does ....

I was never aware everyone could ....I have set members only on the tick box as opposed to visitors in the settings ...then the word error now comes up when I save changes ....

Can you confirm my profile is set as I think it should be ....

Thank you to bluetit for highlighting the problem ...

But I would like clarity to ensure I have pressed the right button ..

I have used before ..but without any problem ....

Thank you ...kat

Profiles are, and always were, intended to be public unless the user specifies that they shouldn't be. As your current settings stand (from what I can see) all your settings specify 'Members Only'. This is what I see in my control panel when I look at your settings:
