Profiles are, and always were, intended to be public unless the user specifies that they shouldn't be. As your current settings stand (from what I can see) all your settings specify 'Members Only'. This is what I see in my control panel when I look at your settings:

Yes, all members can see these. If you wish to communicate with one another in private - you may do so via private message http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/conversations/add

Yes these are my settings ..hope I have got them right

So without trawling through pages of posts about flashing what was that all about? We have a green spot and the like button has moved? What I'm getting is when clicking on a thread title it now randomly takes me to the OP rather than the first unread post which always worked fine before.

If it ain't broke don't fix it comes to mind.

Yes, it does, and that requires more scrolling that my PC doesn't seem able to cope with.

RRB and ADRIAN ARE THE ONLY FLAHERS ON MY SCREEN oooooooo

I also find it frustrating that threads don't disappear when you've read them, they just stay on the recent list. Takes much more attention to detail than the old method for viewing new posts.

Also noticed that the integration with Tapatalk has become somewhat mangled. Every new post in a thread that you subscribe to creates a message in the news feed that a new thread has been created rather than the old style someone has commented. See the screenshot below!

Please ensure that your browser is fully updated to the latest version https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95414?hl=en-GB - it's quite a modern CSS trick we're using to make the circles 'pulse', so older browsers might not pick up on it.

I recommend using either Firefox or Chrome - internet explorer is quite a problematic browser for most websites these days. It's better than it used to be but still isn't great.

As previously stated, you'll always see your own. If you're not set to show as online to other users then they won't see the circle.

I never have any problems with IE anywhere else so can't think it is that but I did have problems on a lot of websites when I used Chrome so I won't use that now .Seems like since the upgrade a lot here are having problems they didn't have before

Working on fixing this - will hopefully be rectified very soon.

I don't know where to start with TapaTalk. They're the least consistent and most troublesome company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I'll raise the issue with them, as this will be something they need to fix either in their API or in their app.

There only seems to be a couple of people experiencing performance issues on the site. I'm usually able to replicate issues like these, but am really having no joy trying to do so with the scrolling issues. :banghead:

Well there's only a couple of people reporting performance issues perhaps. Who knows how many are experiencing them.

I'm still not sure what the 'new forum improvements' are meant to be apart from the two cosmetic ones that are obvious. Can you explain what the objective of the change was and what was the driver for it? It's the 130,000 forum members who benefit or are inconvenienced by it after all, and they are the forum. It would have been nice to have been advised beforehand (consulted would have been even better).

Since so many people are asking, here is a run-down of the changes.

Forum Changelog 27/01/2015

Upgraded from version 1.3.1 to 1.4.4

- Blogs [THIS WILL GO LIVE TOMORROW]: We're really excited to introduce blogs. Now each user has their own blog to contribute to – and we really hope this provides an effective resolution for those that still want to post here and interact but be given the option of keeping their blogs private.

- Thread lock notice: When a thread is locked, it is now compulsory for the moderator to give a reason. This reason will appear in a box at the top of the thread, with the moderator’s name, reason they gave, and time/date it was locked.

- Watched threads: You can now PM an administrator to un-watch all watched threads on your account in one go rather than one at a time

- Activity display: You can now choose to show or hide your online status and current activity. (Previously, if you had the online status enabled, it was equivalent to having both of these options enabled)

- Polls: Polls are no longer limited to one or multiple choice: the creator can now control how many responses a user can select. Voters can now also change their votes, if the creator selects this option. Polls results can also now be limited to only be viewed by people who have already voted.

- Profile posts: Users can now delete posts from their own profiles

- Status indication: There’s now a small green bubble above user avatars on posts to let you know when they're online. When the user isn't online, no indicator is shown.

- IPv6: For all the tech brains: we now support IPv6!

- Multiquote: You can now quote multiple replies as you're scrolling down the page.

- Simplified CAPTCHA: When registering accounts, or after getting locked out of your account, we’ve made the CAPTCHA much more effective and simple.

- Selective quote: You can now selectively quote peoples’ posts by highlighting the part of their post that you wish to quote, and clicking ‘Reply’. This also works on mobile browsers.

- Reply ban: Moderators can now ban users from threads on an individual basis.

- Avatar gallery: We've now got a pre-loaded gallery of avatars available for you all to choose from.

- Fixed a few bugs with the app

- Various other bug fixes: fixed auto linking in basic text sources where HTML is accidentally used, hid the message about dragging multi-quote elements around when not supported, if a media embed key contains censored text, the media will no longer be embedded, 'hamburger' icon now displays correctly in iOS8, file inputs no longer autofocus on iOS8, fixed some IE11 bugs relating to copy+pasting content in to the text editor, prevent an SQL error if a user has 65,535 unread alerts, prevent an SQL error from overly long warning messages, updated URLs in the cookie notice describing clearing cookies in certain browsers, and many many many more.

- Misc. security fixes

- Fictional: We upgraded the servers, and now rather than being run by hamsters in wheels, they are operated by trained deer.
