Newly diagnosed T2D and sorting my diet out. Tend to google diabetes plus name of food I’d like and look at diabetes,co,uk and similar which has been very helpful but am having some problems with odd ingredients like halloumi to name one. I’ve been told to salty for T2D and same on a few sites but have found it mentioned a few times on this site like it is okay. So is or isn’t it? Also any recommendations for good diabetics recipes web sites and may be ones that use air fryers? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I think it would be more beneficial if when you Google food you’d like to search put Low Carb or Keto, whatever you want to find. Many of us here control our diabetes by cutting down on carbohydrates, all carbs turn to sugar when digested. Unfortunately the NHS hasn’t moved with the times and if you fall on a website that follows NHS guidelines you may end up eating a diet that is considered healthy for all, unfortunately that ends up with eating too many carbs for a type 2 to tolerate. Have a look at this website for loads of info and recipes that are low carb:

I wouldn't worry about the salt content of Halloumi. I eat a fair bit of cheese, all types. I count everything through Cronometer and even then my salt intake is no where near a daily allowance.

If you are eating low carb your kidneys will tend to flush out more salt, so you might find that avoiding salt will result in excruciating cramps.
I see Halloumi is a cheese, very low in carbs - should be fine.
I have a list of foods I buy which are all under 11 percent carbs, and I have worked out what I can eat using a blood glucose meter - keep to the right foods and for me, the job was done.
