Hi Guys - I am Karen. I have PCOS and was put on metformin about 5/6 years ago. After a year a I was told I was borderline diabetic and the dose was increased. At some point I guess I was confirmed as type 2 diabetic but not sure when. I was very overweight and was on 500 mg 4 times a day. In January the light flicked on when I realised I didnt want to automatically be put on statins and would also like to get off diabetic meds. I have been working really hard and got my cholesterol down to 3.79 (good to bad) whatever that means. I have also lost 5 stone and 5lbs.
In the last 2-3 months I have had moments of feeling faint and today I think I actually did faint - found myself sliding to the floor after a darkness came over me. I had eaten about an hour before and did my sugars - something I have been told not to do as I attend a diabetic clinic who monitor me. Anyway sugars were only 3.3. Could my dosage with the weight loss and controlled diet be too high now?
Also I am feeling weak (muscles) aches and pains, I feel quite grumpy quite quickly and generally dont feel at myself. I also have psoriasis and despite being on a biological treatment that was working I have been flaring up since June. I guess I think my sugars are going too low - am seeing the doc tomorrow about my cholesterol but the nurse didnt do my HBA1c last week so he wont have a reading - should I ask for that to be done or would finger prick test be enough?
Am anxious about reducing the metformin too as it does help my PCOS - any thoughts on my worries?
Cheers,
K
