Despite collecting whiskies (I have about 100 bottles!) I think I've only had one dram since I was diagnosed - the next morning's fasted reading was actually the lowest I've seen so far, which may or may not have been helped by the whisky. So whisky once a week not going to cause great harm, I'm not talking bottles I mean 3-4 doubles with water?
I've stopped beer as well. May resume the whisky soon. One thing I've been thinking about with T2 wild spread all over the globe I would have thought a wonder drug was available to reverse this.Despite collecting whiskies (I have about 100 bottles!) I've stopped drinking beer completely for now (but might reconsider the occasional pint in the future) and instead have switched to the occasional glass or two or red wine as my main tipple.
Go careful. When you go very low carb it also makes you a lightweight for alcohol. The first drinks I had after changing diet hit me very hard.I've stopped beer as well. May resume the whisky soon. That depends on your GP (worth asking but I wouldn't hold your breath). If your aren't on hypo inducing meds they don't have to give you one.2ndly the meter was provided by my dad, am I eligeable for a meter from my GP? If not which ones do people reccomend?
The difference is within the 15% tolerance of the meters. You could test the same drop of blood twice with the same meter and see that sort of difference. They simply aren’t 100% precise.Morning guys, so I find my Glucose meter is being strange, first prick 6.8 and then 2nd one 6.1 so i just averaged it to 6.5. Firstly are these numbers a disaster for fasting levels 6am in the morning?

Your numbers are definitely not a disaster especially for someone just starting to get to grips with things.Morning guys, so I find my Glucose meter is being strange, first prick 6.8 and then 2nd one 6.1 so i just averaged it to 6.5.
