Thank you for your reply. I really appreciate your feedback and how well you are coping. That's amazing. I don't think I can even have such a positive outlook on life. I do take synthroid for the hypo but I have to take it on an empty stomach & wait hours before I can eat, that's lovely for the blood sugars! I am starving & my sugars must be off the charts. I dread the day when I will have to figure out how to give myself insulin shots?
I take Thyroxine with a drink of water soon after waking up. I then dress and make breakfast - no need to wait for hours before eating. Maybe check wit your GP about that.
I had chicken with salad today, but breakfast can be eggs scrambled with cheese, or leftovers from dinner - I have about 10 gm of carbohydrate first thing as I am not able to cope with more.
I have a mug of coffee with cream and then can go all day without needing to eat.
In the evening I have up to 30 gm of carbs if I have dessert, but that is only a couple of times a week.
As I am not overtaxing my body I don't envisage needing to inject insulin, as I don't need any medication now, and I am losing body fat little by little. I am still fit enough to work part time even at the age of 70.
A lot of the doom and gloom about diabetes comes from HCPs who can not understand that the problem is the carbohydrates and insist that we try to cope with a 'normal' diet.

Hello
That's super how you don't crave anything carbs anymore. I love healthy carbs. I never ate sweets, no chocolate, no desserts. Even at birthday parties, I avoided eating cake! Always conscious about the refined sugars in them knowing that mom is diabetic & too afraid that I would be one too. So I worked out so hard at the gym, thought I was eating healthy only. My favourite are beans, sweet potatoes, Quinoa, fibre filled vegetables & fruits, only to find out now that it was all poison to my body! I am devastated. I've cut out the grains, have 2 fruits only now, & have 1 low carb piece of toast. I have either canned tuna, sardines or salmon with sautéed greens & mushrooms. I am still starving! I don't eat eggs anymore because of a recent study that said it causes diabetes if you already are pre-diabetic. I won't be able to avoid type 1 because of mum's LADA T1 & that's why I am having anxiety attacks knowing there is no way out to this. I am alone & so scared...

The genetic links for T1 are far less than for T2 so even if your mum has LADA (T2 is very common after gestational diabetes) there is no reason for you to get it too.
Genetics of Diabetes | ADA
So though your mother being LADA increases your chances, they are still pretty low. 90% of new diabetics (or thereabouts) are T2, and T2 can be treated by diet. As a prediabetic, you have a very good chance of normalising your levels by some dietary tweaks.

Eggs causing diabetes?
That really is not believable - plus it is totally illogical.
Refined sugars are just one part of the carbohydrate food group, and all of them are going to become simple sugars after digestion, cake or quinoa, it is all the same once digested.
There is no need to go hungry - even on under 40 gm of carbs a day I can eat large amounts if I pick low carb veges.
I make desserts from gelatine, making a jelly with yoghurt or cream which I colour and flavour once it is fairly cool, then I whip it up and add frozen berries, which I let defrost and then puree, then add more and mix gently until it starts to set.

Hello, sorry I have been away from this post. Am still struggling with depression and anxiety with prediabetes. It's amazing, everyone here sounds so positive but I am alone and scared. I went on You Tube to watch Jay Sampat and his experience with T1 diabetes and his positive energy, but then I get depressed because he has a significant other and family who can take care of him while I get through this alone. i have no clue when it comes to math and numbers on insulin injections when it's my turn to come/ i know this is just bringing on the diabetes full steam ahead with all this stress and anxiety. Then with stress, I can't control my eating, portion control = none whatsoever! i am such a mess, everything is going downhill from here on. thank you for replying and listening to my negative rant. i have no one to turn to.

You should speak to your GP about your concerns, as it does seem that the prediabetes is the least of your problems.
