I take Thyroxine with a drink of water soon after waking up. I then dress and make breakfast - no need to wait for hours before eating. Maybe check wit your GP about that.Thank you for your reply. I really appreciate your feedback and how well you are coping. That's amazing. I don't think I can even have such a positive outlook on life. I do take synthroid for the hypo but I have to take it on an empty stomach & wait hours before I can eat, that's lovely for the blood sugars! I am starving & my sugars must be off the charts. I dread the day when I will have to figure out how to give myself insulin shots?
I had chicken with salad today, but breakfast can be eggs scrambled with cheese, or leftovers from dinner - I have about 10 gm of carbohydrate first thing as I am not able to cope with more.
I have a mug of coffee with cream and then can go all day without needing to eat.
In the evening I have up to 30 gm of carbs if I have dessert, but that is only a couple of times a week.
As I am not overtaxing my body I don't envisage needing to inject insulin, as I don't need any medication now, and I am losing body fat little by little. I am still fit enough to work part time even at the age of 70.
A lot of the doom and gloom about diabetes comes from HCPs who can not understand that the problem is the carbohydrates and insist that we try to cope with a 'normal' diet.
