Welcome to the forum @Bubbsie - I was diagnosed earlier in the year so I remember going through what you are, just know it does get better. Everything was a mystery to me - now I feel like I've got a pretty good understanding of diabetes, a lot of it from this forum!
I will tag @daisy1 who can provide you with some information to help you get started.
I learnt so much in the first few weeks by reading the forums (ok non stop reading the forums!), many folks are super helpful on here - there are no silly questions.
Best of luck, and remember you are not alone
Thank you...trying hard to make sense of all the information I've received...early days yet...checking the forum and so many going through the same difficulties...Welcome to the forum @Bubbsie - I was diagnosed earlier in the year so I remember going through what you are, just know it does get better. Hi and thank you...starting to try and get myself organised...presently taking Metformin which has almost made my appetite disappear...so at the moment my weight is reducing steadily...getting to grips with the food is my biggest problem...meter ordered so will be able to check my blood sugar...thankfully feeling a bit more positive...Hi and welcome to the forum. It can take time to get your head around everything but you will get there.
Hi Ameeno...I have started to test my blood regularly before and after meals...also have a blood pressure monitor and a good set of scales...blood pressure going down ( although take medication for that)...blood sugar started off at 17...on waking this morning was at 7.4...so hoping I am getting to grips with my diabetes...and yes it is good to see the numbers going down...Thank you...Hi bubbsie, dropped by to say hello, I was diagnosed in July so relate to what your saying, lots of great info on here. I have read what type2 is a hundred times but still struggle to answer when asked what it is, that's how new and muddled I feel !!! Once I got hold of a metre I felt so much more in control. I also got a blood pressure monitor and a good set of bathroom scales and keep track of all my readings, sounds a bit obsessive but its really good to see the numbers coming down.
Good luck with your test results.
Thanks Daibel...still taking the Metformin...weight...blood pressure and blood sugars going down...so feeling more positive t the moment...Hi. Metformin started life as an appetite suppressant so can reduce it or leave you with a strange metallic taste. This will fade so continue with it if you can.
I am just as muddled ... even eight months after diagnosis! Just cannot get my head around any of it. My doctor refused a meter and I'm too confused to send for one in case I donn't get THAT right eitherHi bubbsie, dropped by to say hello, I was diagnosed in July so relate to what your saying, lots of great info on here. I take Metformin tablets ... 500mg ... two per day.@coby - Hello. Few people get issued these days with meters. But, you really ought to think about purchasing a Meter. Using a Meter allows you to see/find out what foods you can eat and those to avoid. I have the link for the Codefree Meter which is popular on this forum. Perhaps you can tell me a bit more about what it is you don't understand. Are you just diet controlled? Or do you take tablets for your Diabetes?
I understand that I have diabetes now, though heaven knows how, since I meet none of the criteria and there's none in my family line. I know my blood is too sweet but don't know how to unsweeten it. I know it's meant to make you thirsty and to make your vision foggy but it doesn't with me. My diagnosis came about because my vision suddenly became perfect!!! Weird!OK @coby - Tell me what you do understand?
@coby Exercise and Diet is essential for getting blood sugars down and losing weight.
