Hi all just wanted to introduce myself, i'm Lynn and have just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes today
Thank you JulieHi Lynn and welcome to the forum, it is an excellent place for advice and information. It's quite a shock when first diagnosed and there is so much to learn. Take your time and read as much as you want. I can guarantee that over the next few weeks and months you will be taking control and have more energy and feeling better overall. Good luck on your journey,
Where is the best place to buy a blood sugar meter and test strips pleaseHi Lynn, aka angelynnie
Welcome to the forum. You'll find a friendly bunch here, also a lot of knowledge and experience. When you've just been diagnosed, it can be quite scary and you may feel overwhelmed with all the information given to you at first. You will find out what to read and what you feel comfortable with.
I'm Type 2 as well, have been diagnosed a few years ago but only the last year have I managed to get my blood glucose levels within a better range, mostly because of testing.
It's unfortunate that GPs won't give out blood sugar meters and prescribe test strips, saying that Type 2s don't need to test! Well, I don't know how they expect you to be able to control your levels if you don't have the tools with which to do it. Many type 2 buy their own meter and test strips with a view to managing their diabetes better, in spite of the GP or Diabetes Nurse telling you not to
Good luck on your journey, you'll meet lots of us on your way, all of us being different and unique
Julie
