Hi @Natbat87 . Welcome to the forum. Very early days for you and lots to learn.
Lantus and Novorapid for me. Amounts vary due to carb counting, exercise and how T1 evolves over time.
Keep posting and don't forget we're all here to help.

Hi and welcome. As a T1 you should be moving onto the Basal/Bolus (aka MDI) regime shortly. This would be the Levemir Basal you have already plus a meal-time Bolus such as NovoRapid. The Bolus would be adjusted thru carb-counting for the amount of carbs in each meal. It may be that it's early days for your T1 so just Basal is OK, but you will need to add the Bolus when you find it difficult to keep it below, say, 10 mmol 2 hours after a meal. I have Levemir which is very popular and NICE preferred. Most take it twice a day like you but I manage with only once a day together with the Bolus (NovoRapid)

Are you just on levemir? No bolus insulin?

Im on a pump so I don't use basal insulin. I'm not sure how helpful it will be for you to get a long list of everyone else's insulin doses. The important thing about your insulin dose is to make sure it's right for you.

The job of a basal insulin is to keep you steady when you aren't eating or bolusing. There are some guides on how to test that, but I wouldn't advocate a basal test so soon after diagnosis. Hopefully you are in close contact with you diabetic nurse and they can help with any insulin adjustments while things get settled.

Welcome @Natbat87 :)

I'm Type 1 with an insulin pump.

It's very early days for you so keep testing lots. Were you diagnosed in hospital? Have you seen a specialist yet?

Hi! Welcome to the sugar club! I'm a relative new comer too, diagnosed about 2 1/2 years ago. I'm on 11 units of Lantus a day and bolus Apidra. I eat a moderate amount of carbs - about 139g per day and have a HbA1C of 43.

I had been seeing doctors from my surgery over 9 months. Twice they had done blood tests, I presumed for diabetes and thyroid as I was having viscous leg cramps, losing weight and my head hair. The third time I went in I saw my own doctor- she looked shocked when she saw me. My husband had insisted on coming with me and began to cry! An older friend had insisted I took in a urine sample and while I undressed for the examination my doctor dipped it. Diagnosis! She shouted. You're off the scale on ketones. She rushed round and found a meter. My bg was 28. She had to go confer with colleagues and they decided if I had walked in I wasn't so ill I had to rush off to hospital. They got the hospital to phone me and I went down the next day. Everyone was so surprised at how well I was functioning at such high glucose levels. They decided to try glycoside tabs first. Of course they didn't touch it so immediately went onto Lantus and Apidra and within a week I was carb counting. Less than 2 months later I went on a two week cruise! Diabetes is the most frustrating condition but at the moment mine is behaving.
